Anybody hardwired a radar detector on their rear view mirror on an 06? Tips?

 

did this a while ago...i wired up a passport 8500...worked fine... i did it so long ago i can't remember which wires to tap, just use a volt meter to find the constant power, and ground.

NOTE: the radar detector will turn off when the car it put into reverse, but will power back up once again in drive (auto trannies.) not to sure about manual trannies.

 

for me. i used my radar cord that came from the zr3 shifter to the radar.. it was easier to splice than a telecord.. eek. but for me i used the black and grey wire. and i just unplugged the plug from the rearview.. and then put the wires into the back of that and plugged it in ;-) tada. no splice. no taking off maplights and all that mess. telephone cord has that stupid white line with the wires.. and just in general was harder to work with.

 

why not in the front?
