radar rattle

I'm having major issues with my rader detector (pasport 8500) rattling against my windshield due to bass. i have it hardwired and mounted (w/ factory suction cups) just to the right of my rear view. Anyone have any ideas on how to stop the rattle w/out blocking the radar detector's sensor?

what's rattling?

Is it the radar rattling because it's moving back and forth against the windshied, or is something lose in the mount?

the radar rests against the windshield. it then rattles very loudly against the glass. i think i need to figure out someway to mount it so that it doesn't touch the glass at all, possibly mount it form the bottom of the rearview.

I would imagine that anyone with a radar detector and aftermarket bass-heavy system would experience the same problem. any ideas would be appreciated

Look to see where the radar unit hits the glass and put a thin/small piece of foam or some sort of padding there.

id recommend some padding. if you take it apart you can see where the actual 'receiver' part of it is. i'd say put some rubber feet or even some tape or something on the top edge towards the front

the problem with not resting it against the glass is its heavy and bounces around. im gonna get into this but really im not that concerned yet.

I had the same problem with my 8500 in my car. I took some 3M double side tape foam tape, cut two small squares and put them on the two little nubs that stick up on the rear of the 8500. Should fix your problem, it fixed mine.
