once again prooving that the escort is a better unit and a much better value than the V1. im not suprised. ive been saying this since my old 8500.
i recently replaced the 8500 with the new 8500 X50 and blue display. i have to say the unit is even more cool looking in person than the pic on the website shows.
im glad to see Bel is finally making a decent unit. to be honest from what i read its almost like they took the electronics out of the 8500 because from a features standpoint and programming standpoint it seems like they work identical.

BEL RX65 is the same inside as 8500 with the exception of voice commands and europe radar band KU.

Good site as well: http://www.radarbusters.com/

From the "radartest.com" article:

>>> The BEL Pro RX65 is the flagship dash-mount model in BEL's new Professional Series of premium detectors. A companion model, the RX55, is priced lower, uses a different platform and offers somewhat less performance and fewer features.

I did my own research and the RX55 is IDENTICAL except for the plastic housing color and addition of Ku band. This was confirmed in a voice call to Beltronics.

The woman further volunteered that Bel and Escort have the same parent company. I do not have confirmation that the Bel Pro RX series is built on the Escort 8500 x50 assembly line, but have heard this unofficially from more than one source.

The second article at radarbusters.com is also good, but his prices are high. I got my Bel Pro RX55 for $183 US incl shipping from an Ebay vendor about 2 months ago. Works fine.

You can pay more, but you won't get a better radar detector.

How exactly do you do that (assuming you don't have access to a radar gun)? Just plug it in and drive around real fast? Hmmm. Sounds like a good weekend.

I dont use the radar when im driving in the city, so I cant comment on its performance in the city is. Bass, I left the manual at my apt. , so Im not sure how I can enable the POP mode feature. Any suggestion?
