Radar detector hard wire

New member, just bought an '03 CLS. Would like to hard wire my detector into the map light console. Does anyone know which are the right wires to tap? Would save me some time. Thanks

I would not mess with that. Run it to the drivers side fuse box. Power wire wrap around the power mirror fuse & stick it back into the fuse box, then run the ground cable to a screw under the dash near the fuse box. Done.
I wired 3 CL's this way an explorer & suburban. All had zero problems.

I think I wired mine to the passenger fuse box....

I believe it was the moon roof or window fuse.

The ground I used a bolt in the fuse box, tucked all the wires behind the dash. Looks clean.

you can also tuck the wire under the headliner and down the a-pillar to which ever side fusebox you will connect it to

Yeah, probably the best(safest) way to go. Thanks for the advice.

There is a switched 12volt tap on the drivers side fuse box-straight spade lug. I'd use that rather than monkey around with various fuses.

There is nothing to monkey with. Strip the power wire, take out the fuse, wrap the wire around 1 fuse prong, then insert back into the fuse box. You have a tight solid connection.

This is where you can hardwire it in easily with a single spade.

Thanks for the pic. I will look for that on the driver's side box. I have wrapped the wire around the fuse before, as was also suggested, I'll just have to see what I can get to the easiest. Thanks for the input.

Follow the instructions from here. Buy the wire ends at any Radio Shack for a buck or two and crimp them on.
