Quick Car Audio Question
My stock system finally ate all of my CD's and won't give them back, so I've decided that it's time to upgrade.
I know theres some audio guru's on the site, so I'm looking for opinions. Right now I'm pretty strapped for cash, so cheap is good.
I'd like to leave my speakers stock, USB port would be nice, but a line for an MP3 player would be fine too. I'd love to get in dash navigation and sat radio, but I suspect that that's probably beyond my budget ($400 installation inculded, but cheaper is better)
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

Did you try any of those yet? If not, search the forum for details.
And for a lower cost solution, why not just install something like a Blitzsafe adapter for an external iPod or other MP3 player?

I hit the thing, no go. I'll search for the nail file trick.
Blitzsafe might be an option, but I'd really just like to replace the whole unit. I know my budget is kind of low... Any advice is appreciated though. I'm willing to forgo GPS and sat radio, they would just be nice to have, but I'm open to any options.
Thanks for the replies.

ok, i had this same problem. the only thing u can do is bang on the dash.
rip out the old head unit and put in a cheaper after market, there is a post on hear that tells you how to do it. it not too hard to do its just a pain to do. get a face plate adapter and rip out the junky bose cd changer. dont listen to the dealer cus they will charge 350 buck to "fix" it, and the dealer will tell u its ur own fault for putting burned cd's in it.
i do think that the Bose cd changer in TL's are junk, it should be recalled .

got to go to crutchfield
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-o1ndPadAlYX/
the can get you a face adpater, and wire harness and all that good stuff. put it in yourself but make sure you know what your doing. there are threads hear on how to do it and still keep your sub woffer working.
this will show you how to install it and keep the sub. https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/keeping-factory-sub-when-adding-aftermarket-headunit-99-03-tl-326253/
if you need help just let me know. i did everything myself and only spent 190 bucks from crutchfeild. and i got a top of the line kenwoob cd player (usb, bluetooth) and i was able to wire in all of my stock speakers. its not a hard job you just need to know how to take the dash apart and do a little under the dash wiring.
have fun

Ok can anyone help me solve this problem? I have searched a good bit and can't find anything. I got an 03 CL with bose 6 disk/amp stock sub what not. I already have a amp/sub hooked up to the stock system and sounds great. I am buying a pioneer in dash possible double din. Anyways I already bought the wiring harness and rca to run to the rear. Do I need to bypass the stock amp or can I turn it completely off and run the stock speakers w or w/o the stock sub. I am just trying to find a way to hook it up with it sounding good. No one seems to hit the nail on the head for this question. Thanks

To solve many peoples problems about installing a new head unit with the factory system, I will post a DIY this weekend. I will include all the components to purchase and in-depth install. I will also include how to turn a single din into a double din.
