question for the builders and installers.....
i want to make a false floor for my trunk so i can mount my amp flush. how do you attach the initial sheet of ply wood to the trunk floor. i was thinking of using the 4 pegs for the cargo net but what about the back where the fuel sensor is. i can't just rely those 4 pegs because the back peice is not going to be the same sheet. thanks in advanced guys.
There are several ways to do it and it is going to depend on how you build the amp rack. Some people will drill right through the metal ie into the chasis. Sometime if you cut the piece of plywood to fit the contours of the trunk, you don't have to secure it with anything.
i def want to attatch it. i was thinking just get a sheet metal screw in the back. but is the fuel tank right against the trunk bottom or is there a gap. i guess i could just rely on the other 4 studs but i'll have to see.
Test it out and see, then worry about anchoring it. That way you don't have any unnecessary screw holes in your trunk. If you do end up screwing into the metal, make sure to use some silicone caulking to ensure a water tight seal. PM me if you have any other questions. If you have some pics please send them my way so I can help you on the specifics.
