Question about TV tuner
I've installed Pioneer GEX-P7000TV tuner on my 00 TL. The tuner came with wireless remote but doesn't have IR sensor to control the remote. I've called PIONEER & they said I have to get pioneer H/U or monitor that can be controlled with the remote.
I was wondering if I can get any kind of IR sensor seperately(w/o buying pioneer H/U or monitor) so that I can install it on my TV tuner.
If I turn on my TV tuner now, it's just black blank screen. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have a few pictures for the GEX at the link below. I believe it shows where you can solder the wireless IR remote eye (radio shack # 376-116)to the board.

songoku,
I found this at clublexus.com maybe it'll help. Sounds like they've got if figured.

An infrared eye that will work with the GEX is Radio Shack 276-0137. It needs +5v, GND and the REMote lead in the 20 pin connector. I connect my remote eye with 1/8" stereo headphone extension cable. I cut the female connector off about 1' back and solder the male wire/connector on the infrared eye. Black is GND, White is +5v and red is the REMote wire. The femal end of the connector I then route the wire through the extra hole on the OSD wire harness and solder directly to the GEX's PCB.

Thank you very much for your help, guys.

Paul,
You are correct about needing a IR Eye for the GEX. All Pioneer monitors have the IR eye built-in, so it won't work with any other monitor (like navi displays). You can add a Radio Shack IR eye part# 276-137. It runs off of +5 volts, GND and a single REMote wire that is found in the RGB cable. I can track down the wire color for you, but you will have a couple other problems too.
1. The NAVISENSE wire in the navigation input cable needs to be brought high (at least +2.5 volts). This tells the GEX you have a navigaiton system plugged into the red plug.
2. The DSEN (Display Enable) wire in the green side of the RGB plugs needs to be shorted to ground. This let's the GEX know there is a compatible monitor on the output.
The problem with #1 and the IR eye is that the RGB cable doesn't have +5 volts in it. It does however have a illumination wire that provides +2.8 volts or so and it will work.
Do you know about the lack on screen text without a Pioneer monitor also attached? The difficulty this takes in setting it up and using it?
Let me know if you have more questions,
Steve

this might also help
The composite sync is on the single shielded white wire. The R,G,B are on the Gray, Green and Red shielded set. The REMote wire is purple wire in a shielding with brown, green and pink wires. The 20P RGB cable does not have +5v in it, but if you don't connect up the GEX's illumination wire to your dash lights you can get enough power to run the Radio Shack IR eye. This SWACC5 is yellow wire shielded with light brown wire.

Yeah, I've seen that post. That's Steve's post.
But he said it's red for the remote at the first time, then changed to purple, and brown at the last.. That's why I got confused.
I e-mailed steve & ask him which wire...so I hope he get back to me before sunday...
