when its in video mode, even though you cant see them arent the touch screen icons still on the screen? are they still funtioning

Yes, the map/icons, background controls (AC,climate, etc), buttons and touch screen capabilities are all still active in video mode. I thought about disabling these, but it would require a more complicated switching $. I didn't see any harm in leaving them active and more of a potential electronics harm in interrupting them.

It's a requirement that you at least be at the main navigation menu (or other screen). Not the startup "safe driving, warning screen" before switching to video mode. As we all know the navigation turns off after several minutes at the warning screen without pressing "OK". Your video would turn off as well.
