Q: Adding Sub/Amp to Stock TSX Head Unit

Alright, I just went thru all 4 pages of the Audio & Video Forum and wasn't able to find a specific thread that explains how to install just subs and amp to a stock headunit on a TSX. I haven't taken delivery of my TSX, but I want to be able to install my subs and amp within the first week I get my TSX so I've been doing a lot of research. Since I have no plans on upgrading the headunit or the speakers in the car, what is the best place to grab the signals from the head unit to pass to my amp? Would I need to splice into the wires going to the Rear Door Speakers or the Rear Bass Speakers? And does anyone have a nice step by step guide on doing this? I've done some audio installations in my Integra but I didn't do any splicing because I installed an aftermarket head unit and used the Output from the headunit to go to my amp. Since I won't have that option with the stock head unit, I would need to splice a wire from my amp to some speaker to get the signals. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

That info should be in there somewhere, I dont know the specifics myself, although my system was set up like that at one point. The audio section of the new Acura site needs improvement, it needs to be broken up more

I did find a thread with someone saying that there's a thread out there that states that you would use the rear woofers, but I can't find it. So I guess I'll use the woofers in the rear? I just want to know how I would get to the wiring.

Here you go man:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ht=tsx+install

Let us know if you have questions. That pretty much sums it up.

Mods: Can we sticky the thread that I'm linking too?

Search tip: When doing a search change the "From the" drop down box on the bottom left of the page. This will help give you more hits.

Hope that helps man.

It does look pretty straight forward. I just quickly read over the thread and this is what I got:

1. Splice the wire from the Amp to the Rear 6x9s using an LOC (what is this?)
2. Take the power wire from the Amp to the battery (wire already includes a
fuse), also keeping the wires tucked underneathe the side plastic skirts under
the door.
3. Take the ground wire from the Amp to the a screw that is screwed into the
spare tire well or somewhere else on the car
4. Take the Remote Power Wire from the Amp to the Center Console wire that
holds the stock amp's remote power wire and splice it with that.

And wala! I'm done?

Here's a description from the LOC / Hi Lo Converter sold on Crutchfield.
If you're planning to connect an amp that doesn't have speaker-level inputs to a car stereo that doesn't have preamp outputs, you'll need a line output converter. The PowerLink II hooks to the speaker leads of your stereo and provides RCA preamp-level outputs, so you can run a patch cord (not included) to your stereo amp.

Basically it converts amplified speaker level outputs to low level RCA outputs. You'll run RCAs from this LOC into the RCA inputs of your amp.

For the remote turn on wire, you can also tap into the the FM antenna amplifier remote turn on wire which sits in the rear D pillar of the TSX. I forget which sides this is on though. Hopefully Eld will come around and tell you exactly where it is *cough*

This gets the same signal from the factory HU that the OEM amp does. It's closer to where the amp will be (assuming you're going to mount it somewhere in the trunk) and a little easier to get to. This way then you probably won't even have to touch the storage bin area. If you having trouble locating it though you could still just get the signal from the place that you originally planned.

Everything else seems right to be right though. So when's your car gonna come?
