PXAMG Interface (Isimple) Help

Hello all,
I just recently installed the PXAMG (.36 Firmware) into my 05 TSX Non-Navi. Everything works except the radio always says "XM Loading".....no matter what mode i put it on (IPOD, AUX1). The song title/artist should show up here. Is this a firmware issue? Is anyone else having this same problem?

I've not seen that happen yet. You should shoot Tony from Peripheral a PM. His username is Peripheral.

Yes, its a firmware issue. I PM'd Tony with car info and email address and he emailed me the proper firmware the next day (I sent on a Sunday.) Mine was doing exactly the same thing. The proper firmware fixed it.

Compatible with Acura MDX 2007-2008, Acura TSX 2005-2008 and Acura TL 2004-2008; Acura radios require XM button for compatibility; not compatible with Acura vehicles equipped with rear seat entertainment systems; not compatible with navigation radios

Best buy states that it's not compatible with navi? i thought i read that some had it working?

what is the official position of Peripheral on this issue?

Most Acura/Honda owners using the Peripheral kit have NAVI. And it works perfect. 90% of these that I've installed were in TL, TSX, RL, MDX, Accord and Civic with NAVI.

so, what is the issue that is preventing some users from having full functionality with the navi systems, like "richard harvey" four posts above?

why then does Best Buy's advertising clearly stipulate that it is not compatible with navi systems?

not insulting your intelligence on the subject, but i need to know if it this thing is going to work before i pay someone to take apart my pristine dash.

thanks in advance.

Has anybody tried the .36e firmware on the site right now. When I got mine back in February I tried the version that was up there and had to have Tony email the correct firmware. If any of you have upgraded from that version (.25 I think) to .36e, what differences have you noticed? Has the volume issue been addressed? And has the text initialization thing been addressed? Any input would be great.

I've installed several recently running the .36e and it appears flawless. The volume/display issue is gone and I haven't seen any problems with text.

rfj2004, please send it to me as well, tim@guitarcentral.ca
I tried everything this past weekend and just can't get it to recognize the iPod. Sometimes it does then the XM doesn't work. I'm stumped (and sore)

I have the latest firmware, but it won't show Artist/Title at all..... the only thing it displays on the screen is "AUX" I believe.

And I don't have any other functionality other than the next track/last track with the Tune knob.

Any ideas?

On a TSX, pressing the "RPT / DISP_mode" button changes what is shown in the display. I don't know if you have a similar button on your TL - it's the button that changes the display from channel name/artist/title when listening to XM.

^^^ Nothing happens when I hit the DISP button on the radio. Nor does anything happen when I hit any of the number buttons (1-6). All it evers shows on the screen when I'm listening to the iPod is AUX.

AUX only shows on my radio display briefly after the CD/XM button is pressed. Immediately after pressing the CD/XM button you can turn the tuning knob to select AUX/SAT/IPOD but then the input selected disappears from the display. I do not usually run my Ipod using the AUX input - there are no steering wheel or radio controls of the Ipod when using AUX. The Ipod can be played through the audio system but with no control - for example, to change tracks you must use the Ipod controls. To make the steering wheel or radio controls work the Ipod the IPOD input must be selected - and the track information is displayed in the radio display.

But my steering wheel controls (Volume, Track) DO work when it shows AUX. I can change tracks and such, both on the tuning knob and steering wheel. But nothing displays on the radio.

Thanks for trying to help. Any more input?

^^ the nice guy above you just told you how to change into IPOD mode. AUX mode will not show you any display info form the iPod because it leaves the iPod unlocked. IPOD mode locks your iPod and displays all track, album, artist and playlist info on your radio.

All this info is in the instruction manual as well.

Ahhh, which I didn't get because I got the unit 2nd hand from someone on here. I was going off of what I could scrounge up from peripheral's website.

I'll try turning the tune knob. Wow, I feel like a noob. Coulda sworn I've done that already but I must not have.

One tip about using the tuning knob to change inputs. The tuning knob will only work for changing inputs for a brief period (a few seconds) after pressing the CD/XM button - look for the display showing the input name (AUX1/AUX2/Ipod/SAT) - and the input name will change as you turn the knob. It sometimes takes a bit of practice to catch the timing.

I installed my isimple yesterday and i cant get it to work. I am unable to switch to the proper source. I have a 2005 canadian tsx non-navi. I tried everything i could find on the forums thats work for others and nothing has worked. I pressed the mode button so many times i lost count(probably close to 1000 times now) The only thing that works is the charging feature. So basically i have spent almost 200 cad on a car charger for my iphone 3gs.

a little extra info:
i had a soundgate auxhond3 and that worked without a hitch.

I have a 2005 non-navi TSX (for USA) - I suspect a Canadian version would not be different.

The only other hints I can give are just pressing the "RPT DISP-mode" button is not used in changing the input at all. It changes what is displayed on the radio display.

Press the AM/FM button and listen to the radio.
Then press the CD/AUX((XM)) button. The current input selected will be shown in the radio display briefly (maybe 2 or 3 seconds) - it will be IPOD,AUX1, AUX2, or SAT. During this brief time, the radio TUNE knob can be turned to move the input to another selection. This is where the timing can be touchy. If you don't catch the "input changing" mode then switch back to AM/FM briefly and try again by then pressing CD/AUX((XM)) button.

The RPT DISP-mode button can be pressed after the input has been selected. It does various things depending upon which input has been selected. I have found when the IPOD input is selected, the display steps through various things - one of the displays is the current playing IPOD track or artist.

I'll try anything at this point. I really don't want to return this unit as I've spent enough money to have it sent out here. Today is a new day so after work I think I'll give it one last shot.

This is kinda random, but i wasnt sure if i should start a new post. i have a 2006 Acura TL with Nav. and i have had the pxamg since about 2007 i think. i somehow got lucky and got it for 70 bucks on ebay. it was one of the early versions that could be upgraded easier, like i didnt need to rewire it to put it in some b mode for firmware updates or something along those lines. cant remember the serial number though.

my main question is what exactly will i get if i take apart my car just to update it to .36? will the artist/song info scroll yet? (like if i have a long song title "ghost and stuff featuring rob swire" it only shows "ghost and stuff fe")

do the artist scroll by showing multiple artist on the nav screen when scrolling through artist/song/albums? (i hope that made sense) for example rather then showing lil wayne on both lines on the nav screen when scrolling, does it show:

lil wayne
ludacris

rather then

lil wayne
lil wayne

or is there pretty much no reason to update it, if i havent had any issues with it. i also have the HD radio installed and the 5V cable. and it works fine with my ipod nano (plays video, but doesn't record them) and it works with my friends 3gs iphone.

thank you for your time.

carlos

The main reason for the revisions other than fixing minor issues was to fix compatibility issues with IPhone and ITouch operating system updates and upgrades. You should still update to the most current firmware if you are on .36 now.

New iPhones also require the purchase of a $30 part from iSimple. Figures.
