Problem installing 6x9's in rear deck?

I'm thinking about installing some Infinity Kappa 6x9's in the rear deck to replace the stock crap (I plan on adding an amp to power them)

But I've looked at the magnets and size of the speaker basket and it looks like it is going to hit the tension bars used for the trunk when i put them in the factory holes.

Anyone have any experience with this? Can I fabricate some sort of mounting ring to raise them up enough to clear the tension bars and still be able to put the stock speaker covers back on?

I have those same speakers. I haven't put them in yet but the ones I got came with spacers. Did yours come with them?

No spacers.

I took out the deck and tried to put them in and they definitely don't fit. They are too deep. Magnet hits that tension bar.

I'm afraid that a spacer will prevent the speaker cover from fitting back on... and because of the design of the rear deck, you have to use the factory covers (without monster amounts of work and expert fabricating skills). I'd be curious to know if yours fit with the spacer for sure.

Like you mentioned Infinity 6x9s wont fit without hitting the tension bar. You would either have to purchase 6x9s with a shorter depth or place a spacer. I dont think a spacer would cause any problems. I purchased a plate to convert the 6x9 hole into a 6.5 hole and it doesn't prevent the rear deck speaker cover from fitting. I bought the spacer/converter on Crutchfield for about $9...I'm not sure if they have a complete 6x9 spacer. Hopefully this helps

yeah the spacing sucks, but you can make ur own spacers with some MDF wood.. & just cut the plastic behind the grill to make up for the raised speaker hieght. (you cant see it behind the grill n e ways) i have kicker k6 6x9's and the magnet is pretty big, the 3/4 mdf inch spacer works great...
