Pre-Amps
Pre-Amps
Ok guys I think tm going to be getting a pre-amp. Im thinking Rockford PA2 or the Audiocontrol Four.1. I have an EPX2 w/28 band card but I really dont want to do anything custom, so Im saving that for later. If anybody else has another idea shoot my way please
I am wanting something to give me some voltage to my amps and to give me more control
I have:
Focal's 165k2(not installed)
Kicker ZX 460 bridged just on the Focal's(not installed)
2 Fosgates 12" woofers (in car)
2 Punch 40's( in car)
soon: Rockford 750s, 2 HE 12's
I am wanting to get my equipent then install the new stuff

why not just get a deck with more voltage, or use the expansion modules that Kicker offers to get the EQ'ing that you need? Not to mention a deck with the EQ and Crossover points in it.....
by the way, you have a great setup for the fronts, I've done that in a bunch of other cars, but I would recommend that you upgrade the subs a little bit... Normal HE's will not keep up with the Focals the way most people would like, just my two cents, but something to keep in mind.

Sorry I forgot to mention I have a Alpine CDA 7995 and that does have 4v out of the RCA's. As far as the subs I am going with HE2 subs not just HE I really was not clear about that in my last messege. My my box was designed for these woofers. I understand about the modules that kicker has but I want something I can change a setting real quick.
Thanks Kyle for your input

you have enough voltage coming out of the headunit already. 4 volt is good enough. To buy either preamp is worhless since you have an EXP2 that has a preamp, x-over and eq built in. If your kicker amp had a crossover then use it for now.
I'm using the EPX2 in a prelude and it's pretty good. The only thing I hate is the crossover cutoff point is 12db. I wish it is was 18 or 24db. these world have been much better. the 28 band eq card is awesome. I used to use Rockford subs but they take way too much space. check into JL W7's. They're the best I've heard so far and I've done alot of sound competitions.
