Powered Sub in TSX
Has anyone run a powered subwoofer off of the 6x9's using speaker levels. Can you still retain the 6x9's running off of the factory amp and use the signal to sub. I was thinking of upgrading the factory speakers, but i know they still won't have enough bass. If both can be run you would be able to cover a nice range. I don't want to have a whole seperate amp but a want a little better sound.

So you want to run hte 6x9's wires to a sub? or you want to run the wires to an amp and than to a sub? The stock deck is only pushing maybe 18w max so you dont have enough power to push even a junk sub. What you could do is split the 6x9 speaker wires and run a set into an amp that accepts hi-level inputs and power your sub that way.
Please explain exsactly what you are trying to accomplish?

That's what I want to do. use the speaker wires has high level inputs to a powered sub. Instead of going through the expense of a sub enclosure, sub and amp I have noticed that there are quite a few powered subs for under $200. with either 8" or 10" subs and 200 watt amps. (peak, 100rms). I was wondering if anyone has done this. If so, Can you still keep the 6x9's, and send signal to the amp. Will the signal sent to the amp draw some of the wattage. I am also cosidering changing the 6x9's for better sound. One idea is to put in a crossover and send all lower hertz to the sub and the remainder to the 6x9's. I know the factory amp only sends low signal to them, but where is the cutoff, If it is 400 or higher, I could crossover at like 200.

Ok, i see what you are doing, but you dont need to worry about preserving the 6x9's as they only get a sub signal from the factory amp, there are no mids or highs that come out of the 6x9s.

Yeah,I know. But do you know at what frequency level the amp sends to them. Most subs are good from 20-300hz. If there is a signal coming over as high as 500, I could cross over at 200 or 250 and use the x9's as a mid-bass. I don't know if it is worth it though. Just would like some cleaner sound at high volume.

Great question, I belive it is 120hz and under but I am not positive. If you do some searchs on subs you will see that most cross over at 80hz and under, very few people go as high as 100 or 120 or 200 in your exsample.
