Powercap?

Im gonna be running about 1400watts total in my 2nd gen tl and was wondering if i should get a powercap or not. If so how many farad should i go with? Would it be a good idea to replace the stock battery with a optima yellow top/red top, or would it not be necessery.

don't get a cap. does more harm than good.
think of it as a bandaid and the wound doesn't cure;it just covers it up

if the yellow/red top isn't enough (1400w should be fine with just that), then spend that money you wwere gonna put into the cap into another battery to go in the trunk

How does it do more harm? Im just asking becuase i've never used one and figured it might be a good idea. In my last car i had about 4000watts and i had a yellowtop under the hood and one in the trunk with stock alternator and it was fine, so maybe ill just do something like that. Any suggestions on what to use (both yellow tops or both red tops) if i decide to do the 2 batteries. Thanx....

Def get a yellow top, and caps don't do more harm. how is the 1400w total broken out? Dual batteries is the best, but a cap works to not clip an amp that draws heavy power, because it runs in parallel with the battery and keeps a charge. I have a 3 farad on my 1500 watt class D and it does just fine, I haven't clipped it yet. It also depends on how demanding the amps are. A second battery is best, but caps work just fine, I don't see how they do harm, I've used a half dozen cap setups and never had anythign but success.
