Polk Gxr 6.5" Has Any1 Done This Install??
HEY ALL, my 1st post on this forum, be nice.
just picked up a pair of lower end polk speakers at fry's(GXR 6.5") the other day.they've got good spl rating of 92db but will they fit?and will they need to be capped off to kill some of the highs?
I'm doing searches of old threads BUT speaker models change constantly SO here i am.
just lookin for someone with these speakers in there typeS doors

Don't know if they'll fit or not? It's really not that hard to take the door panel off to check and see.
ANY coaxial or component speaker will either need the EQ bypassed with an extra amp, or some kind of tweeter roll off in order to sound anywhere normal. You can cheat and turn the HU treble way down, but that also kills a lot of the midrange. But even that sounds BETTER than stock...

hey thanx southbound, don't worry i did find yours old post about your experiance and found it VERY informative.however as you know thr dx6's are hard if not impossible to come by.

hey we should keep a curent list going of speakers that just drop in our doors,as they change models all the time.
add the polk gsx 6.5" to it
and BTW they're on sale at Fries for $39.00 normally $60-$70
they're not polks best models but a good match for factory head units power.
BTW i ended up cutting the back little flippers on the rain shield but it would have fit tightly without.
