Polk Audio db6750's and db675's

I notice these guys are 7" as opposed to the 6500/650's 6.5". Will they fit in the fronts (doors/dash) and rear doors of the TSX easily? I've always liked Polk Audio speakers since my first pair of SDA CRS+'s back in the mid 80's and am turning my attention to these to upgrade my TSX. I can find them locally easily and get them installed for a reasonable rate as opposed to buying them on the web and then trying to find someone to install speakers that I didn't buy from them. Seven inchers all around and a pair of TB subs may make for a rockin' system that would be an easy drop in solution. Thanks for any input.

More than likely you'd have to cut door sheetmetal to get those speakers in. But that's just a guess.

Any big issues with shaving a little sheetmetal? Will I still have enough clearance for the windows and also still be able to use the stock grills?

Thanks for your input.

Anybody else have any info on installing these? They actually say that they are 6 3/4". Does that mean they'll still fit fairly easily in 6.5" cutouts? The mounting depths listed are:
db6750-top mount depth 2-3/8" (for front doors)
db675-top mount depth 2-7/16 (for rear doors)

I'd like to find out soon so I can take advantage of Crutchfields's 50% off of your second pair of Polks sale. Looks like I can get both of these for about $275 shipped. Damn good deal for what sounds like damn nice speakers.

Thanks again for any input.

Sorry for the shameless bump but does anyone know if these will fit with a little sheet metal trimming and some spacers? It sounds like the rear door 675's should be fine because there is more mounting depth/window clearance. It's the 6750's up front that I'm concerned with.

Thanks for any help.

My db650's fit easily with a 1/2" spacer - Im not sure of their moounting depth, but that should give you some point of reference. Other people have cut metal to make Alpine speakers fit better (I think without spacers?), so there shouldn't be any intrinsic problems with shaving a little off. Cross check the mounting depth of the db 6500 or 650's - 1/2" mdf spacer+foam gasket that came with speaker+one layer of extreme dynamat=Niiiiiiccccccceeeee. OUght to work, but compare the two depths to be sure.

Just a suggestion, but check out EBAY - I got my speakers for about 60% of what Crutchfield wanted - new with warranty, etc. Of course you don't get the neat install sheets or speaker adapters that Crutchfield has but I redid it all so it didn't matter. Just a suggestion, buyer beware.

Gpump,

Thanks a bunch for the help. It looks like I'll need another 3/8" of top-mount depth for the 6750's over the 6500's and another 7/16" for the 675's over the 650's. The 650's and 6500's are both listed with a top-mount depth of 2" on Crutchfield. I wonder if it's worth the hassle for the small increase I'll get in low freq capability by going with the 6750's and 675's? Maybe since I have more room to work with in the back doors, I'll go 675's there and 6500's up front.

I appreciate the tip on eBay as well and will check and see where I can get the best deal. Warranty is important as well as having a quality installer put these in. Circuit City has installers locally but I can't get the 50% off of the second pair deal with them I don't think. I'm also considering Sirius and a custom install there as well. Maybe I can find a good local shop that can install both and maybe do a tint job as well for a reasonable deal.

Thanks again for your input.
