Question PLease help Radio conversion

Sorry I know there are a million posts about the 99-01 conversion to the 02+ 6 disk changer. I am about to buy one but can someone tell me if it is gonna fit. I know one person said he did it, but I am not sure about the mods in order to make it fit. It looks to be the same size in the dash. Are the wires different due to 6 disks. Thanks for the help. My CD Player stopped working the other day and it is killing me, The radio is garbage...

i dont think it would be diff due to it being 6disc im pretty sure that is a internal thing, i would imagine a direct fit, but im not 100%, but it looks pretty standard.

I was looking into this recently as well. From my search, I found that it will be a direct swap. You just need to make sure that it comes with that stupid pop-out CD holder that sits above the head unit. Because of the 6-disc feature, it needs the extra room, so the CD holder area shrunk a little. Hope this helps!

Just make sure that if you do get the '02+ radio, that the security code comes with it. A lot of the ones I see on Ebay don't include the security code for whatever reason. You can always find out from the dealer, but save yourself the headache.

Yes, make sure it's an 02+. Don't worry if it doesn't come with the security code, though. Just make sure the sticker with the serial number on the side of the radio is intact. You can get the security code from your dealer with that serial number with no hassles.

Thanks guys. I am buying the 02 radio today. I got it for $250 which is not that bad considering that a 99 TL radio fron the dealer would run me $$724, yea right that makes sence.. Thanks Darkshear, And the wiring is the same??

Any idea where I could come by one of those 02+ TL radios? I bought the 6-disc in-dash from and '01 CL-S, but the connectors on back are different because the CL uses external amps. Why they did this is a mystery. Physically the fit is exact, so it's for sale if someone wants it...$200 + free shipping.

I found mine on ebay, you need to just keep looking for it or offer someone like 200-300 for their radio, if they are thinking of changing it. This might help the decision of going aftermarket.
