get a deck that has phone mute or some sort of interupt line, for example, ALPINE

When you hook that up to the navi wire, it will shut off sound to your deck for the amount of time your navi gives instructions and continues with music or radio after.
usually a pink wire from an aftermarket deck

So that's where the mute comes from...You also need to get the nav-voice signal from the OE nav unit INTO the aftermarket HU. Remember how the voice used to come out of a stereo speaker? The voice signal actually went into the HU from the Nav in the back.

The OE HU uses an IC with a dedicated input channel for the nav voice audio. I don't have the wiring diagram for this car in front of me, but I will get it and take a look. In the meantime, we need to know what brand and model HU you have sto see if there's a way to do that.

One solution would be for someone to gin up a small amp and speaker, like a HF kit speaker, and have the stereo mute and the amp come on and instructions come out this seperate speaker.

OK, here's the issue - it assumes you ahve an external amp (do you? : )

THere's a good bit of install needed to use Alpine's recommendation.

You need a remote turn on adapter like this:
http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/produ...3&cat=0&page=1

You need a volume control:

http://www.autosoundgear.com/tek9.as...cific=jocohql8

You need a relay and an RCA to modify.

You need a wiring diagram for the car. They seem to be here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...wiring+diagram

This wire diagram indicates that the nav audio is either two-channel, or is balanced. When you got nav voice before was it out of TWO speakers or one? (The L and R + are throwing me a bit).

If it was out of two speakers, cool. If it was out of one, crap. Now we need a balanced line to single-ended converter too, like this:

http://www.autosoundgear.com/tek9.as...cific=jqergoe8

So you'll assemble these parts so that the nav preamp signal goes into an RCA cable (or, if needed, the superven adapter) and then into a volume control, and activates the triggger adapter, which mutes the stereo, and also activates the relay, which disconnects an input channel from the amp and connects the volume-controlled preamp signal from the nav into that channel, which will then be amplified and play thru a speaker.

Both the Nav and radio in CL-S is made by alpine

I happen to own a CDA7995 too and looking at the manual there is an audio interrupt lead that is pink/black. I think your answer is as simple as hooking up one wire from your nav unit to this wire on the headunit and you are done. I myself have not done this so I am not sure if works but it seems simple enought to try out...

OK, as I said before, this handles muting the audio from the 7995. It doesn't make the nav voice play, though... please remember that the OE stereo played the nav voice, and removing the HU has eliminated the connection between the nav and the audio system. Currently there's no voice to hear!

Thank you very much for Elduderino for all the sources and information.
wow, I am amazed that you know alot .

And thankyou for bl^5 about the audio interrupt.

But I do have one question that .

since my CDA7995 has the audio interrupt wire, and as of the diagram, they have 2 (+) wire of L and R speakers

So, is it right if I connect one of the wire from the NAV to the interrupt wire (Alpine) ??

if so, then whenever the "Nav voice" activate , then I'll hear it from my speakers right ?

** My stereo set up = Alpine head unit --> Kenwood EQ --> 4 chanels speakers and 2 chanels SUB.

once again, thanks a bunch

The audio interrupt wire is looking for a DC signal.

The audio output of the nav unit carries an AC signal.

The adaptor I listed creates DC signals, like remote turn on outputs, from AC signals, like audio.

Don't connect that directly - use the adaptor.

Thanks for the super fast response ....

However I am still confuse with this one ...

there is only 1 wire comes out from my aftermarket HU.

and there are 2 wires (possitive +) come out of the Nav.

so if I buy the "TR-4"

http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/prod...83&cat=0&page=1

then I have

Yellow : battery (understand this)
Black : Ground (understand this too)
Green: Trigger input ( ?? should be either the L or R (possitive) wire from the Nav ?)
BLUE :: connect to the wire from after market head unit ?

and just with this set up, I'll have the voice from Nav to my speakers ???

is that correct ??

** sorry if I am borther you too much -- I am new at these stuffs **

OK, let me make this clearer. I am disagreeing with the posts of others, just so you know.

When the nav says something, you want:

1) The stereo to mute.

2) The voice to come out your stereo.

Step 1 is accomplished by muting the stereo with the audio interrupt wire. You need a trigger to be created that can trigger te audio interrupt wire on the Alpine. The Nav does NOT have a wire that behaves that way. You can tap this adaptor into the audio output of the Nav, and when there's a low-voltage signal there, it will create a higher-voltage signal that will mute the radio.

Still need sound to come out of the radio.

Step 2 requires that audio signal from the Nav to go somewhere. If we trigger a relay with that adapter too, we can physically disconnect one channel of the RCAs going from your HU to your EQ, and physically connect that EQ input channel to the signal coming out of the Nav. We need to run that through the volume control so you can adjust it to taste. Then the voice will go into your amp and come out your speaker.

Now the HU is muted and the amp is playing the voice instruction.

What I am decribing is a bit complicated and iff you're not comfortable with it you should have a good shop do it for you...

this is a member's process to convert the oem nav display to accept video inputs,
http://www.angelfire.com/super/types...onversion.html

on this same webpage is a link to the photos. if you look for and through the tables, you will find an entry for a mute signal as well as pair for the voice signal. i believe the nav unit mute wire will be connected to the mute of the alpine headunit. the voice can be added by converting the leads to rca plugs and then tapping one of your inputs. otherwise, you can wire this up to a seperate speaker and amp.

I could not find any connection between the Nav and the OE stereo with a mute command. My understanding is that it's carried on the databus and as such is not accessible to us. Hence my use of the trigger module.
