I assume that player is a DVD player with a screen? sorry, just dont feel like looking it up - but if so, then you have to bypass the safety mechanism in the player that will only let it play when the car is in neutral or park. My friend has an Alpine, and he got something off Ebay that allows the unit to play at all times...just watch out for cops because that is illegal in most states.

Not too sure about buying something for the unit, but I know that some installations tell you to ground the DVD to the brake.

What OU Sig means is that Alpine is not like any of the other units when it comes to bypassing the safety switch. Hooked up correctly, there is a specific sequence that must be followed in order to activate video. You can purchase a "black box" that will automate the process for you. All other units that I know of only require a single wire be connected to the parking brake. Which is way too easy to bypass.

Oh ok, I didn't realize Alpine was like that but since this guy has Clarion, my info should be useful.
