-Dom's RGB converter
-video iPod cable (PIE if you want to charge it too)
-Blitzsafe/Soundgate aux adapter

Since you specified the video from your iPod, you can't use the USA Spec or Blitzsafe iPod specific adapters.

Wow-didn't even know that was a possibility...I think I'll upgrade from my 3g iPod to Video and consider this install instead.

I have an '04 w/ navi....

Any ideas on cost for mine?

Thanks in advance

I use the UsaSpec adapter without any problems.

I read you can get a Dice cradle that that will grab the video out of the ipod and send to a composite. This is good because it's one cable for the sound (if you have the Dice unit) and video.

Another advantage to the Dice unit is an additional audio input, i.e. for sat. radio (if you have an 04 tsx, like me) or HD radio (what i'm planning on doing)

Just to make sure I'm reading correctly, you have a USA SPEC PA11-HON2 adapter and it plays audio (a given) and video on the navigation screen?

I meant, he can't pull video from his iPod with the USASpec adapter since the adapter only pulls audio.

I have the DICE cradle, and it does indeed ALLOW YOU TO pull the video out --- KEEP IN MIND the cradle is ONLY a pass through. You still need a cable that will break out the audio and video signals such as the PIE Video iPod cable (which I currently use). In essence, it's just a "fancy" holster.

As for the DICE "system", a lot of blokes in this audio/video forum have had issues with it not working... the HU doesn't recognize it. When they've contacted customer service, they've had little help. They've also noted that it seems cheaply built.

Ultimately, I've decided I'm willing to give up the video capability of my iPod, and switch to a USASpec adapter. To me, being able to control the iPod from the steering wheel outweighs running the video out of my iPod via my DVD player. If I want to watch video, I'll just keep it to the dvds.

Just a slight amendment... the adapter is HON2y if you have navigation/XM.

Thanks for the input, amadeus. I'm pretty sure I'll go with the HON2y, give up the video and keep the steering wheel controls too.

But, just to make sure, is there an inexpensive way to attach a video iPod to navi without a DVD player, and have music videos play on the screen? I'm trying to see if it's cheap enough and easy enough before I buy the HON2y...

Thanks.

You'd definitely need Dom's RGB converter ($125-150)... then you could use a slew of iPod cable connectors that break out the audio and video signals (~$30). With that said, you'd still need an iPod adapter for the sound ($79-99), so it's not inexpensive. I'm not aware, however, of any ways to get the audio and VIDEO into the vehicle that would allow you to control anything through the steering wheel... all of those adapters only translate the audio.

already done...

use doms video converter for video

used usa spec for audio...

u'll have to run a video jack off the headphone area, and use the usa spec for sound...

works great... however, you can't see the playlist on the screen
so you can't see what song is playing on the screen, which sucks!

but movies and music videos work great.

JDM... does that setup allow you to select movies/videos/etc. from the steering wheel? That's a nifty solution, and probably the most cost efficient way to go about it if you want that Seanus. I still never understood why Apple neglected to allow video output of the playlist screens, etc....

For me personally, I don't want any wires hanging out. I have a DICE cradle with the ball & socket joint removed. I dremeled out an opening for the line out port through my KUDA base, and then ran the wires from behind the stereo and up through the KUDA base. All you see is the KUDA base with the cradle.

i ran all my wires to the center armrest area... all i have is the wire for the usa spec and a video/headphone jack. close the arm rest and everything is gone... just using the steering wheel/radio controls and good to go.

you can use the steering wheel controls with music videos and movies... u just need to use the ipod to get to the music video/movies screen and then you are able to the steering wheel controls.. i also have the myron ad212 dvd player, i connected the video to the aux on the ad212. works great.

i lost my diggie cam but i'll see if i can take pictures with my cell phone tomorrow...

buzzing too much to do it now...

Also if you had DOM's unit already, couldn't you just buy Apple's AV cable and run it to the Audio/Video inputs? I ordered my cable just waiting on it, but this is the first thing I thought about. My friends uses this cable to watch video from his ipod on his TV, so in essence our navi screen is the same.

The HK system lets you use a LED read out, but I fixed the Ipod problem and bought a Zune. No issue with audio and video out. Microsoft, which is always accused of being to monopolistic at least made it where you can use just about any aftermarket adapter and of course, use any music program other than Itunes. My wife still loves her 30 gig video Ipod though, so ive gotten around it by adding all the other files via cd and having Itunes add them. What a pain in azz.

What audio/video problems are you having with your ipod? I've had the blitzsafe, USAspec, and PIE x3 interfaces without any problems. And video couldn't be easier, just hook up an AV cable to your RCA in.

Is there a way to charge the iPod with the CruiseControl hooked up to it? It doesn't look like there's any passthrough...

Hey guys... sorry for not getting these on here sooner. Work's been hectic

A few quick shots... not the clearest shots, but it's raining in Jersey, and I'm not too keen on hangin' outside! Don't mind the wire running underneath the glove box. I'm wiring some other goodies up at the moment

The KUDA matches the leather and interior pretty well, and is also available in the grey and parchment colors. I personally love KUDAs (as I've had them in my other vehicles) because they require NO drilling or use of adhesives. The cradle is great for keeping it in clear view, and a line input or 3.5mm plug can be run into it. It originally came with a swivel base, but I didn't want ANY wires showing at all in my install, so I didn't use it. Since I also like to keep my mods very "stock" looking, I'm planning on painting or labeling over the DICE logo.

Anywho... long story short --- I have full control from the steering wheel of my iPod, which is charged when it's on the cradle... no visible wires.

Do you think this would work on the RDX? Also how did you hookup the amps with Navi? are you running it off the stock cd and radio player?

I purchased the PNP unit from Dom a while back. Yesterday I took it to a shop in downtown Philly and the owner quoted me $350 saying that he still had to remove to dashboard and do some splicing. Is he blowing smoke or is this true? My only concern is that I spent and extra $100 just to get PNP and now he telling he still has to do splicing... should I seek a second opinion? By the way the $350 included installing Dom's unit, a DVD player, a RF modulator and installing that as well.
