Pioneer speakers.

Since the stock speakers are Pioneer, so I'm thinking of replacing the front with Pioneer's TS-C160R.
Anyone has any experience with Pioneer speakers or other Japanese brand? I want one that's clear high and mid.
All I care about is how it sounds to me, what should I do for the rear speakers? Leave it as is?

by the way...the guy at the audio place said that just changing the speakers with out adding an amp is a total waste on the TSX> not sure if that is BS or not though.

Also, anyone heard of AVI?
I had it in my old car, it sounds excellent, but want to try some other brand, so I borrowed it to my friend.
Should I spend some money for a brand new speakers? Or get back the one that I was very happy with?

What's going on? Did I order it before you do?
Mine just arrive Canada today, it's in Windsor. Hopefully get in within a day or 2.
Did u install urself? I don't know how to take away the cup holder, so I might spend some money, or just drill a hole at the compartment under the a/c.

Lots of people here just changing speakers are very satisfied with the result. So I might give it a shot.

I'm in Toronto, Canada and just picked one up locally at a car audio store. I thought about the logjam thing but a) didnt want to wait and b) didnt feel like going through the hassle of ordering through them (they make it very painful to ship to canada).

tiny..I did it myself. It was actually pretty easy and only took me about 10 minutes at most (I didnt need any tools, or mirrors, or anything..just my hands). There is a hole coming out the side/back, which i ran my rca cable out...and then just tucked it under the plastic along my feet all the way to the center console. So there is some wire showing but its only a few inches right at the end. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

The SNHOND is an adapter that lets you hook auxilliary devices (such as the iPod) directly to your stereo. This provides the best possible sound, much better than the FM transmitters.

Its a place in Markham...but there are several places in the GTA that sell them. I actually called the distributor (whos in London) and got them to direct me to a location that was convinient for me. But anyways, you should have yours any day now...so hang tight

Speaker break-in, is there such a thing?

Rather than starting a new thread I think this question fits perfectly in this one.

Is there such a thing as a break-in period for speakers?

The reason I ask is that when I first picked up my TSX I thought the audio system sounded shitty. It seemed harsh and very high-frequency dominant (even after playing around with the audio settings). I soon started thinking about changing out my stock speakers as some on this site have. But now, after about a month, it seems that the system sounds much warmer. I don't know if I've grown accustomed to it or what. I'm thinking that the stock speakers, when new, don't have the elasticity to immediately produce the full range of frequencies. Perhaps it has taken a couple of weeks of use to "work in" the speakers, especially in the lower frequencies that require more magnet movement. What do you guys think?

Pioneer speakers are definitely decent - they sound better to me than Sony or Kenwood etc. Had a pair of 3-way 6.5"'s a couple cars back. If you're only replacing the speakers, you might want to make sure you get a brand/model that has a high s-to-n ratio. I personally like having Boston Acoustic's up front - esp. when paired with a quality deck and amp (I don't have a TSX yet - but will upgrade stereo shortly after buying).

In test driving the TSX, the stereo was too harsh in the high end and too "plunky" in the bass. All in all it sounded pretty crappy across the board to me and I am figuring in the cost of a new sound system in my decision to purchase.

mine is sooooo fulla feedback bullshit... its hissing like crazy when my MP3 player is NOT on but the CDC is selected. I'm using RadioShack's Ground Loop Isolator... and it sucks (i guesS)
