Re: H.O. Alternator

Hey Kman,

Where did you buy the alternator from? I was looking into buying one for my car, but this might be too small for my system. I am running well over 2000 Watts in my car and I need something more powerful. I was looking around and found a shop that will build me a custom built alternator that will generate 200 A and 120-130A at IDLE. The only problem is that he is charging $900.00, not a bargain at all. I need one that can be custom built for my car and still be cost effecient. Can you please recommend a place where I can purchase one that is very powerful, but also economical.

Thanks

Ohio Generator will re-build your factory alternator for $400. Call them at 330-875-6677. You'll get 200 amps.

Exclamation www.alterstart.com

they are in texas...ask for patrick! the alternator is in! running great!!! bolts right into the stock denso application. i had to go to pep boys and buy the next size belt down from stock .5" less. the belt was loose and squealing@ low rpm's / and a/c on. now it 's perfect! get the 4 gauge wire with it. i think the whole thing with shipping was $200? the alternator was like $160, wire $25, shipping! they give you like 15 ft of 4 gauge you only need like 6ft, you could propably get a shorter wire for less$ somewhere else? hope that helps! kman

ask for patrick! he knows the deal. they are gm/ delphi alternators that atlterstart modifies! you can get a 180 amp too! tell him steve in fl with the 99 acura tl told you to call him specifically! be exact with your cars specs, year , model, etc. and what you are running electrically, and he will set you up. 160 is enough. i believe the higher the amps, the more lower end hp you may lose, i haven't noticed any dip...not a notice imho. no biggie. but with all accesssories on, a/c etc. there is no dip /dimming or draw/drain at idle! nice. kman

96TL...Isn't that the company Austin5|9 found and did a groupbuy with? You gonna give him props?

kman156...That more hp draw isn't true...it just means they either 1) put in more copper or 2) built a more efficient one. I was following Austin5|9's on www.acura-tl.org and since they used a small case instead of a large case...there's no way it was added draw on the engine...I mean the copper is going to be heavier but that's like maybe 1 hp difference, maybe. I think they just build more efficient ones. They're the group that's used by a lot of car audio companies...ie. Rockford Fosgate.
