I've heard that they are only ok-not true phoenix quality or build. Their hiher end amps are good, but personally, I would stay away fromthis amp.

Their high-end amp is like crazy. They no longer make their Titanium series. Can you reccomend an alternative? I'm looking for around 80x4 RMS for around $250.

Hmmm, don't have many choices for that kinda cash. But, if you want new, look at US Acoustics. Their amps are very good for the price that they charge. You might be able to find a used JL, JBL, or Titanium amp for that price. But new, look at US.

check out pricing on the soundstream 'edge' series, I believe they should be right in your range. This is the series that replaced the 'Picasso' line, which I had a couple of and was pretty happy with.

if you are going four channel for sure, here is what I recommend right behind a used jl 300.4

go down to the zx 6400

and you could buy it from ikesound

i use hifonics (bx1000D) to power my 10w3v2 and I am more than happy with it, pushes much harder than the jl 250.1 i have powering the same sub in the S2k...

Thanks for the suggestion Mason. I do plan on swaping out all the speakers and adding a sub sometime within the next few months. I've done ALOT more to the car since we met at the track months ago. Headers/Exhaust/UniChip/Springs/Shocks. Rotora rotors will be here this week along with UR pulleys. Rims come in August. One thing at a time, but I'll definitely check out that amp.

that 6.4% raise must be fattening up the old bank account! and then of course being quickly spent

Octane amps are damn good for the money.. I currently have a phoenix gold tantrum 400.4 and an octane 1500.1 and both are amazing. I am looking to get rid of the tantrum 400.4 and get two 400.2 octane amps. My speakers are currently mb quart q's 6.5's in the front. Mb quart reference 6x9 in the rear, and a diamond audio tdx 12 in a custom ported box. As soon as my trans gets fixed i will post pictures of the whole install, it looks very clean. With my current setup the sub over powers the interiors, which is why i am going to get 2 interior amps. When i get them my car should be 150+ db with 1 12 inch sub, and is crystal clear up to 100% volume. Octane amps are great in my opinon.
