First off, i currently have one 15" JL W0 sub and a 240 wt Kicker amp bridged to 480 wt. i have been noticing my sub is letting off a smell when i turn it up for a while. It smells like it is getting really hot. Then i turn it down and let it cool off and then it is fine, but eventually it will let off that smell again. i know the recomended watts for the JL is 250...and the most is like 500. The bass is only turned up half way on the amp. Does this mean my sub is about to blow or what?

My next question is about adding another 15" JL W0. (which i also have) I have another amp that is a pioneer 500 watts bridged. I have a cap on the kicker amp. and i was wanting to run the pioneer amp straight from the battery. I am a little iffy about doing this because i don't want to have to replace my alternator or a battery. My question is if this would be to much for my car to handle?
