Non-navi to navi conversion problem: position doesnt move

It's a 01 CLS and I did the navi conversion. First time, i didnt solder the shield wire, which i think caused the vehicle icon not to move as i was driving.

I redid the wiring, solder the shield wire, and everything worked fine until the dash lights went out. I removed all the navi wiring thinking it was the culprit.

Now, when i reinstalled the navi wiring, i'm having the same problem as before, the vehicle icon does not move as im driving; it just turns in the direction.

Anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

The wire tapped into the VSS wire (by the ecu) didn't have proper contact.

For future reference, if anyone is has this issue, double check that wire and connection.
