Newbie problems with HU
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to first off say that this site rocks! I'm having problems with my aftermarket HU. I hooked up one of those honda/acura wire harnessed to my deck and hooked it all up. The deck comes up with power and everything but there is no sound. I thought it might because of the factory amp, but I can't find a way to bypass it? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey Jerry,
Glad to see another T.O Cl owner.
Well most of the schematics are on this forum for any of the amp questions. I found this site to be pretty informative for the 2.2 cl 's HU: http://www.installdr.com/
The 3.0 cl's HU was pretty easy to remove and with the HU kit and honda harnesses it makes the new HU install super easy. I finally got my deck functioning but unfortunately its making a horrible background noise now and I can't figure it out? I'm thinking its a bad ground or something? Hope this helps you Jerry.

Thanks for the site.
With the problems you are having now.
Did you bi-pass the existing amps in the car and replace the bose speakers?
If not, this is most likely your problem.
The bose speakers only run at 1 or 2 ohm's and most aftermarket decks run at 4 ohm's. This may be why you are hearing the background noise.
My bose deck cd player function is shot with the PEO error on the screen. It just spits out the CD's. So I am stuck with two options.
1. Add the Alpine 6x changer to the existing system for around $500.00 to get me back up and running. or
2. Replace the deck and all of the existing speakers, which should run me about a $1000+.
All of the stereo guys I have spoken to have told me to go with option 2.
They are saying that even if I go with the most shit aftermarket deck and speakers.
It will be like night and day from the bose system.
What do you think?

97Blue,
Did you get your HU working?
I just installed a Premier Pioneer DEH-P630 HU today and I didn't have any problems. The sound quality difference is unbelievable.

I'll try to be there for the meet at Yorkdale.... About the HU.... I kept my stock one, and added an Alpine CHM-S620 changer. Cost $330 with the Honda/Alpine adaptor cable.
Now that's out of the way I want to add a small sub to the system. 8" or less if possible.

I kept my stock BOSE head unit and ran a line convertor to change the signal from the speaker outs on the deck to RCA's for the amp...works great, sounds very clean...mind you the convertor wsa about $800....
