Talking New system in my TSX!!

The install is almost complete.

Here are the specs...

Alpine Type X front components
Alpine TYpe S rear speakers
Alpine PDX 4.100 amp for front/rear speakers
Alpine PDX 1.600 for subwoofer
UNCALD4 customer fiberglass subwoofer enclosure with JL Audio 10W6V2

Alpine H650 processor - I am one of the first people to even have this unit, good luck trying to find one!!! click on the link below to learn more about this bad boy. My main reason for getting it was to have adjustable time alignment because the speaker locations in the tsx are less than optimal to achieve audio nirvana.

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=PXE-H650

End result will be that all components will be totally stealth and hidden from view. I will be able to fold down rear seats and have full trunk space. the only indicator of an aftermarket system will be the subwoofer in the trunk.

reviews to come, probably wont have any pics though since you wont be able to see anything!!!

This thread is garbage without pics!

How in the hell did you get your hands on the Type X components? Are they the new '07's?

Nice selection on amps..post some pics.

they are previous model Xs that the shop i am using has in stock brand new. like i said in the post i will try to post pics if there is anything to show. my goal was to have everything as hidden and tucked away as possible so i'm not sure what pics i can take that would look any different than a stock interior.

Alpine is kinda pissing me off. They release a new product...advertise it for months...call it an '07 model.....and no one can get their hands on it in September. I'm running the same amps as you (there's a thread with pics somewhere around here), but had to use Memphis MSQ's (not a bad component set, just not as nice as the type X's are supposed to be) due to not being able to find the new type X's. I'll upgrade once they finally come out, but dang....what's up with Alpine teasing everyone, then not selling the product?

The H650 is a damn nice piece. It's one of the best sound processors out right now. There are similar products from Audio Control, JL Audio and JBL but the Alpine is packed with usable features and major tweekability. Alpine has so much new shit on their plate right now. We'll see the PXE-H650 soon enough.

POST SOME DAMN PICS ALREADY!!

BTW... props to your research and product selection. This is one of the nicest systems from an Acurazine member I've seen in years. Great work!

thanks man, i went to Car Tunes in Watertown, MA and Richard Inferrera that owns the shop has been in the business for like 20-30 years and even teaches a school so that others can become MECP certified.

rich and all the techs at this shop are extremely knowlageable and professional and they do NOT cut corners anywhere. they do not rush their installs in any way and will make sure you are aware of the full price of the job up front instead of surprising you with additional costs along the way. in fact the cost of my install is going to end up being less than he originally quoted because the amount of labor time he we expecting turned out to be less.

the proof will be in the end result though and I wont be able to report back about that until Monday or Tuesday.

Word. It's hard to find a shop with that kind of integrity.

Good decision!

BTW, your type-x's, are they the SPX-17REF or the SPX-177R? I'm thinking I need some new components myself...

UPDATE - first off my camera battery is charging so I WILL take pictures tomorrow and post them.

ALSO the exact products i went with changed a bit as the install went along. Here's what i got!

Alpine CDA-9887 Headunit- mounted in lower compartment with OEM mp3 attachment kit.
Alpine Type X front components - stock tweeter covers as not to attract thiefs.
Alpine TYpe S rear speakers
Alpine PDX 4.100 amp for front/rear speakers - mounted under driver seat
Alpine PDX 1.1000 for subwoofer - mounted under passenger seat.
Single 12 inch Alpine Type X subwoofer - custom fabricated box

REVIEW:

I have finally achieved a desired result with my car audio. It only took like 3 friggin years!!! This system is so loud, clean, and powerful its silly. Today I listened to a variety of different music like AC/DC, Alicia Keys, The Eagles, Chamillionaire, & Kanye West and everything sounded MINT.

The install is immaculate and I can still access my spare tire without having to remove the subwoofer box . I was nervous/anxious that I wouldn't be happy with an aftermarket deck in the lower compartment but as soon as I saw how it looked my fears went away.

The OEM mp3 attachment kit really does a great job of making it look at home there and also the Alpine Deck i went with has a clean look to it and i can change the colors for the buttons to match up with the rest of the buttons in my car very nicely. Right now i have a green/blue combo going.

I love how I can easily scroll through my Ipod now and can either scan by playlist, genre, artist, album, song etc. Ipod sound quality is perfect. I may not be listing to many CDs anymore...

FM radio reception improved and I can actually now get AM reception wheras before I couldnt get a single AM station. I think it may have to do more with the location of my amps. Previously I had my amps mounted on a wall below my rear windshield which may have been causing interference.

Haven't programmed my Sirius subscription with my new HU yet but from glancing at the users manual I will have way more features to use with SAT radio than I previously did with my seperate Sirius display. I am really hoping that I am pleased with sound quality for the SAT radio because i always hated it with my previous setup and only really used my Sirius to listen to Howard Stern.

One of the biggest advantages of an aftermarket deck is Time Alignment. This in my opinion is one of the best features to come out for car audio and has transformed the sound in my TSX in a way the music seems to be hitting my ears at the same time from each tweeter. Prior to this install I felt like i was only listening to the front left tweeter half the time.

Now i feel like I am at a concert and the band or musician is right in front of me. It also feels like my system can easily handle the volumes that i like to listen to and i have plenty of elbom room so I am not having to beat on my system in the least.

Another benefit of a complete aftermarket setup that is installed properly ofcourse is that I now have zero engine noise, pops, cracks, snaps etc. that have been associated with installs that keep the stock HU. With my previous setup i was like 95% void of unwanted sounds but i still couldn't get rid of this occational snap sound that would happen with the AC running.

So as you can tell i am very satisfied which is not easy to do by the way. I definately spent way more money than i should have but i think if i tried to cut corners i wouldnt be as satisfied so what can ya do!?

One thing is for sure i am definately commited to keeping my tsx for atleast a couple more years and even when i decide to sell it i will throw all my stock crap back in there and most likely install the same stuff I have now in my next ride.

Pics tomorrow....

MAJOR PROPS TO EVERYONE AT RICH'S CARTUNES IN WATERTOWN, MA. They took their time and did the job right and didn't cut corners anywhere.

70K on a honda is nothing, you've just broken it in, you can go 250-300K miles easy

Amp under drivers seat w/ seat pushed all the way forward...

Amp under passenger seat with crossovers mounted on top! talk about room to spare with these amps...

Alpine CDA 9887 head unit with OEM mp3 attachment kit...

Another one...

Another…

Picture with HU turned on, sorry for the blurriness

Angled view, switched up colors on HU...

Custom box with Alpine Type X

Another shot of the sub box, notice the Acurazine sticker on my upper brake light

i can still access my rear spare without removing the box...

Ipod hooks up in center console and i can control it with Alpine HU so don’t need to fuss with it once its connected

Driver’s point of view shot

sorry for the noob question, but i've always wanted to ask, how is the headunit hooked up? AUX from underneath the OEM stereo? or RCA from an adapter?

i eliminated my stock HU from the equation completely. it serves no purpose anymore for my system other then to change the time on my clock LOL. All my amps and speakers are hooked up directly to an aftermarket headunit which is shown in the pics. The aftermarket HU uses RCAs...

yes, i can control volume, change tracks and switch sources (Sat radio, FM,AM, CD etc.) with my steering wheel. i also have a remote control that i can use if i want to but so far i haven't even used it yet. maybe i'll try that today...

i am loving the time alignment feature that this HU has. it seriously seems like the music is coming at me from the center of my dashboard.

Did you put plywood under the carpet so you can screw the amp in? I 'm thinking about installing the 4 channel 150 watt pdx amp that is lying around in the house there.

One more question about the alpine pxe-h650. How did they wire the input; from all the speaker after factory amp or from the head unit before amp F/R . Im interested in the unit and keeping the factory HU.
