The New System!!

Well I finally decided to get some wang in the ole ride. I got a couple of 12" Kicker Solobaric L5's. Built a 5, yes you read correctly 5 cu. ft. ported box (this thing was so hard to build for that trunk...) and finally got it seated halfway decent. Went out and bought a JL Audio 1000/1 amp because I'm such a friggin bass-head! Fellas, this damn system is making my car straight fall apart! Oh and btw, this is all ran off the factory Blose HU. Since the JL amps can take either a low-level or high-level input I decided to just splice off of the sub wires already in the back (after the sub amp) and make my own set of RCAs back there. No need to change HU, no need to add a line-level to RCA converter. Overall system installation was fairly simple. There is an existing hole in the firewall in which no wires run, easily fit a 4 guage power wire through it and down the dash and finally down the drivers side of the ride. No wires showing except the one end on the amp and one end at the positive terminal.

When my ears stop ringing I'll post an afterthought.

what did u end up tuning the box at. I had a single L5 powerd by a rockford 500bd in a ported box tuned at 33 hz and the sucker was loud loud loud, and also stayed pretty linear with clean output.

njtls - yes, 2

dnd2984 - it sounds like the resonant frequency is around 45 but damn do those subs sound loud and clean at just about every freq.

I'm lovin the setup, just need to upgrade the rest of the system now...lol

Damn njtls, what kind of amp are you runnin?!
Those L7's bang from what I've been told, never actually heard them in action though. I definitely feel that for what I paid for these L5's they bang just as hard if not harder than the Eclipse 8812's I used to have which I paid $280 a piece.

all you would hear is the low bass... those W7's don't hit any notes above about 40hz, hehe

not IMHO, those W7's straight pound but no mid bass so basically they cut off after a certain frequency
