I haven't heard them in a car, but they sounded good in the demo room at an audio place down the road here. Hit really hard, they weigh a ton too. It reminded me of the orion hcca's.

I have two 12" JL W'3's and they hit hard. The W7's supposed to hit harder but not not sure if the punch or boom. If you are going down to a 10" you must be looking for a tight base sound. No matter what wattage you are loosing cone area. A 10" W7 should punch hard. I would get two of either. JL is the best.

The Image Dynamics IDMAX is just as good of a sub for a lot less money. They both have equal excurion and similar characteristics.

I had W3's and hated them. Now I have W6's and they're great. The W7's are really good but you need a lot of power to run them like they should be run. They cost about $800-900 too the last time I checked.

Alright, my buddy works at Good Guys (electronic store), and he just had a training session which included a discussion of the JL 12W7. It is supposed to be crazy!!! You need a 1000W amp to run each sub. Each sub weighs 64 pounds and the magnet if fucking huge. Good Guys is supposed to be selling them for $750-$800/each.

A little rich for my blood, but it should hit hard!!!

Try the Carbon Fiber MB Quart subs with the polished magnets. They're like $200 and they sound great. I was pleasantly surprised when an installer I know played them on a underpowered amp in a shared sealed box. It thumped hard. Imagine if it did have the necessary power and was in two seperate enclosures.

IMO the W7's are way overpriced.
