Neo ProLink iPod Adapter w/TEXT reviews for TSX?

I saw some folks in the RDX forums were discussing this adapter (PODHONR3V1 ), but has anybody installed one in their TSX, or have any experience with www.neocaraudio.com?

I ditched XM after my trial period so I don't care about losing that functionality, but I want to make sure the thing works as advertised before I purchase.

Anybody bought one of these, or anything else from Neo for their TSX? Is this a rebranded unit from another company like USASpec?

Neo are the king of re-branding, but this unit is not a usa spec. I have not seen one myself, or heard from anyone who has purchased one yet. Be the first

I checked it out. Looks cool. They've got pics up too. But, no pics of the iPod text with the Nav screen. The price is not bad either.

It says in the "News Release" that the adapter does not disable XM or Navigation. But the product detail says that you will loose XM if you want text.

Ok, I decided to be brave and buy one. I'll let you guys know how it works when I get it--I plan on including pics, too.

awesome, can't wait to see it.

do you have a pie y-cable as well? might want to get one of those too and see if you can actually have both XM and the new iPod functionality at the same time. that's how i got the early usa spec unit to work in mine, they swore it wouldn't work, but i tried it and it did. they don't have every car to test on, so its up to us sometimes.

I didn't get the extra cable since I have non-navi and I really don't want to use the XM functionality. I actually plan on buying another iPod to leave "permanently" in the car, and only remove it to update playlists. You can pick up iPods with dead batteries and broken screens for super cheap on craigslist or ebay--these will work perfectly for my use.

I'll be happy to try anything else out and take pictures for anybody when I get the unit though.

some guys on the TL forum have been discussing it for a while. apparently, there are huge problems with the current version and the text function is not even working. according to neo they are working on some kind of fix.

Fabulous. Thanks for the heads up; too late now though, so I'll chime in with my own review when I get it.

I just read through the TL thread, and it looks like those folks having problems are specifically TLs with navi. Hopefully this thing will work in a non-navi TSX just fine. They also mention that this unit may be the same as one made by DICE?

Yeah, it looks like it's the i-Honda-R3_g2 made by Dice--which happens to be $20-30 cheaper.

This product is being discussed in 3G TL: Neo Car Audio iPod Adaptor Installed.

Unfortunately, they are still working out the kinks.

Well, I received the unit today and installed it...and the TEXT function doesn't work. It plays music and says "XM LOADING" indefinitely. Also, when in the SAT mode the radio buttons don't permit track changes, etc. Pretty worthless. For what it's worth, the unit works in CDC mode, but that's not why I bought it.

Sent an email to tech support, hopefully I'll hear back soon. I'm mostly mad at myself for not realizing this is a Dice unit before I bought it (it even displays the word "DICE" on the radio when it starts), but jeez if they're going to advertise that this works with the TSX it should work! I'll keep you updated.

From the install side......

There's a lot of CRAP being squeezed out right now from product manufacturers. I've had so many problems with adapters and interface parts for newer cars. It's rare that I hear bad things about Honda/Acura parts. It's usually GM, Chrysler and the Euro Gang (Audi, VW, Porsche, MD, BMW). Too many new cars in different form. Don't frown on this part yet. Give the techs a chance to correct it. One chance. If it seems booj... it is.

I really wish this iPod interface would work.

I sent my Neo unit in for an RMA last week, and they just sent me an email saying they'll ship me a unit with new firmware when it's ready next week. The tech I talked to on the phone to get the RMA was very nice, but didn't seem to know of any problems with TEXT. However, she didn't question me when I told her I knew what I was doing, it was hooked up correctly, etc.
