Neep Bose amp info, please help!

I'm thinking of replacing the stock Bose amp with an aftermarket one. If I understand correctly, the stock unit is only like 4x25w?? I have been doing some searching on here and I'm getting mixed info. I'd like to use the output the stock Bose amp as my pre-amp signal w/LOC or using speaker level outputs into the aftermarket. Will this perform? Has anyone done a replacement like this successfuly? If so, how did it sound? I hear the Stock Bose speakers are 1ohm and most aftermarket amps put out 2 or 4ohms. What problems might this cause? Won't the single ohms change the power output of my amp? honestly, I don't even know if it's possible to do this but if someone has done this please tell me! Any expert advice on this I would appreciate!

-Chris

They will need to know the year and model of your car, as not all acuras have the same bose amps.

As a general rule, I don't like to help people with "Please help" and exclamation points in their subject line. Use fewer exclamation points and hit Return more, and your post won't read som much like a breathless girl after her first date : )

The stock Bose speakers in that car are are 4 ohms. I've measured them. Amps don't put out ohms at all, btw.

The HU has a preamp signal that goes to the Bose EQ. That feeds the signal to the OEM amp.

If you grab the signal going into the bose EQ and put some RCA's on it, you're fine. A line driver wouldn't hurt, but it's not essential.

But you need NO LOC's of ANY type. It's a nice single-ended preamp signal - just with no RCA jacks.

You CAN use LOC's on the output of the amp. But it's been EQ's by the Bose EQ, and LOC's are not good sounding most of the time... so I wouldn't do it if I were you. Bad idea in execution.

My feet are fine... you're asking for free help, which I'm giving you. Whether or not you believe me is none of my goddamn business. The last thing I'm going to do is spend time trying to convince you that I know what I'm talking about. And making up info on a forum is pretty silly.

If you'd read this forum much, you would have seen how many questions get asked, and how - and how many get answered, and how - and by who.

Ever hear of looking gift horses in the mouth? I could be the biggest asshole on the planet... doesn't have anything to do with the accuracy of the information I'm providing.

Everybody that asks questions gets some attempt at help from the members of the forum. The exclamation points just sound whiny, like your emoticon.

So, do you want to install an amp to the OEM HU? Or do you just want complain?

Here's the wiring info you need. https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/cl-radio-amp-wire-diagrams-300743/

Then use the wiring technique described here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/instructions-install-shop-preamp-output-300209/

...or not.

Not to sound rude but what are LOC's? And by RCA's are you talking about RCA jacks that would connect to a normal amp?

LOC's are Line Output Converters. They convert speaker leves into pre-amps and yes, he means RCA's that would normally go into any aftermarket amp.

Also:

elduderino, are you simply stating I would be better off bypassing the Bose EQ from the HU and going from the HU directly to the aftermarket amp then directly to the speakers? This sounds pretty easy to do. Also, you stated amps don't put out ohms. If this is the case, what do ohms have to do with anything then? I just don't want to fry anything, you know?

Ohms are the impedence a speaker offers to the amp. A car amp can handle 4 ohm speakers (or greater), but may or may not be able to handle fewer ohms. Almost no HUs for instance can handle anything lower than 4.

Then you can complicate the issue with bridging, but since you didn't ask about that, I shouldn't try to complicate things unnecessarily.
