Need some opinions for a system

So I've decided to revamp the system in the Acura. With Mercmans harness, which I will purchase, I've decided to run new wires from the rear doors and the front doors, as well as the front tweeters. I'm going to replace the tweeters in the front with the tweeters that came with the infinity kappa perfects, and use those crossovers. The back doors I won't be using the crossover, and just use the components.

I haven't decided whether to eliminate the 6x9's (to all those who have eliminated them, did you just disconnect them, or remove them from the car altogether?) and add a sub, or just buy some nice 6x9s for the package tray. Tough decision.

To power my system, I've decided to go with JL a6450 (http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=403
(cool amp, would like 100w per channel, as infinity kappas are power hungry... using a percision p4400 right now to power them, problem is its an unbalanced amp and that causes a problem in acura... )

although, if I were to replace the 6x9's with a sub, I'd probably go for something else. The JL 500/5 looks interesting, but the power to the rear is only 25w each, and the sub would get 250w... is that enough? Anyone have any experience with it?

In an ideal world, I'd get an amp that supplies 4/100w with preouts (for front/back door) then I would just get another amp for the rear(6x9 or subs). Le freakin sigh.

Any suggestions or comments? Am I thinking about this rationally and correctly?

I apologize if I'm bugging anyone. I think all of you have some pretty good minds and before I even buy anything or touch the car I'd like to have a game plan so I can tackle it as seamlessly as possible.

I'm going with a JL 300/4 for the fronts and rear 6x9's (eliminating the rear door 6.5's due to lack of stock [long story]) and a 500/1 for a dual 10" JL sub box from the year 2000. I would suggest these amps, but they are pricey, so if you want to keep the price down, you could look at the 500/5... you're not really going to need to throw a lot of power to your rear speakers anyways as they are primarily used for rear fill. hth

For rock/metal etc - Put 6x9's in the back and no sub.
For rap, hip-hop, electronica - 6.5's in the rear using a 6x9 to 6.5 converter, and add a sub.

About the 5-channel amp.. if you turn it up loud enough youll probably either have really bad distortion or youll blow your rear speakers. A 250/300RMS sub can rattle your car with 250W.

+1 on the 300/4 and 500/1
I have the 300/4 powering some rsd's and polk db6500's, works nicely, 75rms to each (underrated, probably alot more than that), if youre kappas are more pwoerhungry, you could look at the 450/4 which would run you like 50-75$ more.

I disconnected + removed the rear 6x9, its allowing more bass into the cabin (it is noticeable)

if you're getting a sub, i don't think rear 6x9's would really be necessary since they would be putting out the same frequencies as the sub anyway, might as well put that money into a better sub.
Depending on the sub that you get, that will decide if the 250w from the 500/5 will be enough to power your sub, it would be a pretty crappy sub if any

I have a 12" hype-r powered by the 500/1 right now, its loud but i'm upgrading the sub to a 15" idq.v2 in the ocming weeks

That is a really misleading statement. JL designed the 500/5 for a simple, balanced, high quality one amp system. Are you trying to say they JL does not know what they are doing? If you are trying to wake your neigborhood, then yes, 250 watts on a sub is not enough. But for the majority of people trying to put together a clean and balanced system, it is more than fine. Now that amp power is getting cheap, people thing you need 1000 watts on bass to get any volume, which is simply not true. Subwoofer efficiency and box design have much more to do with the quality and quantity of bass, than the amount of power. I have 250 watts now on a JL10W3, which I certainly wouldn't consider a "crappy" sub.
