I really need some input and wish u guys could help me a bit.
My car currently is running a stcok deck with after market speakers and amps all around. The sub set up consist of a one 15" JL w6 400 RMS(old School) sealed (1.45 CF) powered by a 500 RMS alpine amp. I know lost of people like JL, and i dont necessarily hated them, i just feel they my set up doesnt hit hard enough. I dont mean that the set up isnt loud, and it actually could get quiet loud, but i just wish that it would a give little more punch. I think they just hit pretty soft for punch bass
I am now conidering the alpine Type R 10", and can handle 500 rms. Does anyone that this is a good options? I am worry that the 10" wil not be as loud.

The other options are
JBL GTI series 10"(handled 650RMS) or
other lower end JBL 12", or
MTX 8500 ( 2 x more expensive the the R) or
Rainbow 12 vented enclosure (i can get it pretty good price)

Try adjusting the gains and crossovers points. Basically try to tweak your current system before dumping it for something else.

 

Thanks ,honestly, i have done numerous tweaking, including positoning the sub backward, forward and and upward, and still didnt gave me what i wanted. I normally have the bass gain at -2, which had alway seemd to sound cleaner that way
I had this sub since 98 or 99, when i used to have the civic. Back then i had a alpine deck with EQ , so that helped a bit on tweaking.
