Ok so i decide to buy a aftermarket HU for my 03 TLS, first i went with the Alpine IVA-D300 and my cousin swore to me he could install it, so going against my better judgement i let him. He got the radio installed and all was well but, radio would not come on unless you turn on the parking lights, i though hummm interesting, so before he had a chance to try and fix it i got a good deal on the IVA-D310. So he pulled out the D300 and installed the D310. Now radio is fine but when i turn on the parking lights the dash lights do not come on and the little middle screen with the outside temp and the odo goes black. IT Sucks A$$ at night with no dash lights. So i've been trying to wait for my cousin to fix it, but i don't think he can, he doesn't come out and say that he can't but he has that look like Oh Jesus what have i gotten myself in to. Do i bite the bullet and take it somewhere and hopfully won't get raped on the labor to fix what he did or try and wait and see if he figures it out.

 

You won't get raped, you will get charged what you should have paid the first time plus hopefully some kind of fine for being smart enough to plug a second radio into wiring that was OBVIOUSLY bad.

If you ask me, you already got raped - by your cousin. Is that a crime in the Carolinas?

He has your ground screwed up, probably on the illumination wire.

See now if i was oringally from carolinas i might of took offense to that cousin rape thing, but i'm sure that's the norm down here the way some of these people act.

 

Go to a shop man. They shouldn't even have to charge you full install price since all you really need done is to have 1 or 2 wires fixed. They'll have to go over all the wiring but since its already done (90% right I guess) it should be a 1 or 2 hour fix.

Its worth it just for the peace of mind alone. Let alone a fully functioning car. I'd pay $100 for that any day.

 

Yeah Off to a shop i go. Made a appointment, they think they already know whats wrong. Thanks guys. Acurazine, what would i do with out it. .
