Need opinion on two diff. setups

wassup, i wanna spend ab $400 on a decent system, but it seems like it cant get that low.... i checked out two local audio stores.... i cud get a soundsystems amp, (fergot the watts, at least 500) and 1 10" L7 sub (forgot the name, the sub thats a square) in a box. with installation for $500 in total.... is that worth it?

or, at bestbuy, i cud get a 760 watt sony explod, and a 12" xplod in a enclosed box with installation also for $500.....

which one shud i go with? does ne1 know ab chain stores (wiz, etc) that have better deals than this?

i know im going to be throwing away about $80 for installation, but i have no idea how to wire the ground wire through the car. im scared to take off the door sills and the back seats and what not.

go with the 1st setup, cause sony sucks bro. too over rated. its all show and no go. definitly go wit the L7. save your money install it yourself. ground the ground wire 2 the trunks floor. make sure u sand the area before u ground it there. if u need more instructions just post here for help. i'm sure me or your other TL brothers and sisters can assist u with the amp wiring junk.

Lates,

alrite, i hear u... i mean the power wire, dont u haftas take out the backseats and dorrsills and ****?

i went ot the wiz today, it was only 130 for a 760.2 sony amp, and 70 for a 12" sony..... im def getting the amp for 130 bc thats a steal...... but the i need a box for the sub, so it gonna comoe out to $170 for a sub and box. so i might as well get the L7 which is in a box, for $200. ..

I thought we had discussed this before bud...guess not. Well before I say anything, don't get Xplod. Anyone who tells you to doesn't know anything about car audio...and is probably just a Circuit City boy . I have yet to be impressed by anything Sony makes in the car audio dept., sans their LCD screens which I believe are just outsourced to Sharp anyway.

So you have $500 huh? Unfortunately you're bordering on having a good and great system. I know that's not what you wanted to hear . But well. I am still selling my 2 JL 12w6's from an install that fell through, they were going for $455 on eBay but the buyer never came through, so I'm planning on selling them for less. As for the amp, with about $250 you could get one to power subs like that, that's why I mean you're in between systems. I would say don't go with either system personally, because Kicker has had a LOT of build issues and frankly is a brand I wouldn't trust, at least for their subs.

You can step down a bit from brands like JL and Infinity, and get one of the standard Best Buy type brands...Alpine, Kenwood, etc, and get a similar amp and get under the $500 mark.

But either way you'll want to do the install yourself. No matter what it should take under an hour, is extremely easy, and you won't be throwing away 10-20% of the cash you have.
