Question Need opinion quick! Alpine IVA-D300 vs Kenwood DDX-7015

I'm goin to get one of these installed tomorrow. I've researched them both on the web, and both are quality units. I like Alpine units over Kenwoods in general, but the Kenwood is sweet cuz it's a double-din... perfect fit for our cars. The Alpine unit has that sweet new "pulse touch" technology that was awarded at this year's CES convention.

So which unit would you chose??

hummm... this is a tough one... i love alpine equipment and would lean towards this one since alpine also has a mp3 changer which is nice and kenwood does not make one.. but kenwood does make the mp3 music keg... the kenwood unit is like $200 cheaper right... and less moving parts to break since the screen does not actually fold out... they both are all in 1 units (play dvd, cd, mp3.. etc).. they are both touch screen.. i would have to say i would go with the kenwood in the tl since it would fit alot nicer and take up more of the gap in the dash making for a cleaner installation... but in any other car i would have to go with the alpine.. you might also want to look at the new eclipse units.. they have one similar to the kenwood but with a 20gig harddrive in it..

One other note: the navigation on the Alpine does not work with touch-screen, and you have to use the remote to control it. The Kenwood's navigation uses the touch-screen technology.

Oh, and Kenwood is $1000 cheaper according to Crutchfield.

yep definately go with the kenwood... but my crutchfield shows the iva-d300 for $1499.... and the ddx-7015 as $1299... that is why i said $200 difference... but have you looked at the eclipse units yet they are some awesome units.. kindof of pricey...

Oops, meant to say $100 difference. Yea the eclipse units look nice, but my dealer doesn't sell them, so I'm just gonna save some effort and choose between the two.

I think I'm gonna call Alpine and see if they are planning on releasing a navi that will work on the touch screens. If not, then I'm def goin Kenwood. I'll prolly buy the navi within the year, so I would much rather prefer a touch screen navi over usin the remote...

I love the looks of the Kenwood. A full double din with the right trim around it would look awesome in a TL. I think it would blend so well. The Alpine is going to be a great unit but, personal opinion, I just like the idea of filling up the whole area with one unit.
