Need new CD-R Blanks..Imation were good but now CRAP!!
Wanted to send this out to everyone, but I am needing to change my CDR media (I still have 20 or so of the Imation 16x 80 min but they are sucking something serious!!).
I used to swear up and down with the Imations, but it appears that they have switched manufacturers and the newer ones that are out there are CRAP!!! Anyone have suggestions on some good quality CDR blanks?? I'm a pretty decent audiophile, so sound is a factor, and longetivity is also as well.

I think you should try the TDK or FujiFilms that are made in japan. Check the label to make sure, because they are manufactured by taiyo tuden, which is one of the best cd-r companies. I have used these and they definately have been great and still are working great.

Different burners work better with different cd's. See if you can find an error test of your cd burner, I find that the more expensive discs usually don't work as well.

I have found pretty much all cdr's suck after a while... the sound quality of them does not seem to hold like a "real" cd does, after a lot of listening time they tend to sound degraded. So i just keep the music on my computer and when one of my cd's gets screwed up or starts to sound bad, I just record a new one. I'm really picky about my music and what it sounds like.
Besides that, I have found TDK's to work pretty well, but the "label" side is easily scratched, making them unuseable.

Memorex
I do a lot of CDR/RW authoring and cheapest Memorex works just as well for me. All of audio CDRs I created perform flawlessly on my CL Bose system.
Don't buy into the hype of "Music CDR", etc. They are all the same (albeit, except for a few things like speed rating, etc, but nothing significant)! What matters is how fast your CD burner or PC and make sure it's not choking/interrupted during CD burning.
