Need new 12" subwoofer

My 6 yr old JL 12 w6 just retired on me So i need a new 12" subwoofer, I would like to hook it up to a JL 250/1 amp in this Box which i just bought http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ay_Pr4_PcY_BIN

I narrowed down to the JL 12 w6v2, alpine type r d2 and the Xenon 12d2, i really would like to go w/ the Xenon but i don't know much about car audio, so will it work? I have a feeling i'll have to go with the octane-r

Which speaker is best out of all listed? any help would greatly be appreciated

Of those listed, JL. I would not touch PG any longer.

I just installed the 12 w3v2 d2 earlier this evening, its a great sub but i won't surely know till after the "break in" period, i need to lower the gains on the amp and i'll need my install friend to help me out with that soon, by then i should have dynamat installed on the trunk lid since it rattles like a sob

Thanks for the help guys, Im a JL guy but since this is a temporary setup i wanted to try something new.
Next thing planned is 2 10 w6v2's on a 1000/1 in a full fiberglass custom enclosure.

***Update***

I decided to return the 12w3v2 it can not possibly replace the good old w6, at first i was gonna go w/ the 12 w6 again thats been used for only 2 months in excellent condition.

after sitting down crunching numbers and looking in the market i decided to sell my JL 250/1 return the 12w6v2 d2 and spend $60-70more for all used in excellent condition JL 500/1 with a JL 12w6v2 ! ! ! :estatic:

It will be installed in a sealed Q-logic 1.25 cubic ft. box which is absolutly perfect for the driver. Im so excited i can't wait to get all this at my door along w/ a new moto v620 = )

If anyone wants the JL 250/1 amp let me know, it has the good guy's extended warrenty for a few more months.

I'll post again after the new setup is installed

the new 12W3V2 is a much better sub that the old W6 - the new W3 has more excursion, power handling, can play louder, and is made much better.

but the W6V2 is a very good choice.

I don't think its that MUCH better, the 12w6 can take in more but the w3v2 has better cooling

Did you already return that w3v2 D2? I have 12"w3v2 D4 but turns out I can't have it with my ideal sound system. PM me if you still have it willing to sell it as well as 250/1 amp. Let me know how much you want it for.

Okay heres my review of the JL 12" w6v2.... Just got home after spending an hour playing all sorts of music, and its fucking awesome! there are not enough great words that can be said about this sub!!

It hits so damn good my female passengers will orgasm MULTIPLE times! and my trunk just begs for dynamat. it suprises me with all diffent types of music ie. Mariah Carey- Like That: like the part where the bass gets real deep in the music... i said to myself out loud "Oh My Fucking Gosh!" and the sub is not hitting at its optimum level. Heres the Link to what Car Audio and Electronics said about the sub.

My history of subs in order:
2 12" JL w6 in dual box w/ separate chambers Powered: 500.1 Rockford Fosgate amp
8" JL W7 in custom audi a4 side trunk moulding enclosure Powered: JL 250/1 (cleanest hitting sub but only at lower vol.)
1 12" JL w6 same sub and box from above Powered: JL 250/1 (hit just as loud but better than 2 on the fosgate amp)
1 12" JL w3v2 D2 in a ported enclosure Powered: JL 250/1 (still liked the w6 better, maybe because it was in a sealed enclosure?)

Heres the setup:
JL 500/1 amp under fosgate 4 guage power, might change that to 2 guage.
Rockford Fosgate 1/2 Farad Cap, soon to be replaced with a full farad from Monster
12" Q Logic box with 1.25 cubic ft. which is the perfect size but soon to be replaced with a JL ProWedge enclosure (this sub deserves the best)
And a trunk full of dynamat for even cleaner bass and better spl

If you guys have any questions please feel free to ask

I just picked up the same amp and sub...I haven't fully tweaked it yet, but it's pretty nice. I've gotten the best results with the EQ set to OFF, LP filter at 70hz and the slope set to 24db. I'm also still positioning the box around to see what sounds best. I think you went with the right choice!

I am about to sell my 2 12w6v2 for something difffer. I already have a single 12w7 in my TL, which actually is louder than the 2 12. I am gonna try out the 13w6v2.
