my tv does not display anything it just has a backlight and that's it.

it worked for like a week and then it stopped working. can anybody help me out?

Do you get a "ON" light? This would indicate a power problem, check power feeds including fuse.

Do you see a faint image in the LCD (looking very close, although not visable on all displays) it could be your flourscent backlight is not working. TFT's use a high voltage backlight and this would be a transformer problem.

What brand or model is this?

 

What are you using for a video imput? DVD, VCR, playstation? Make sure its getting a video signal. If the backlight is on then its not a power problem. If you're sure that its getting a video signal, then most likely the monitor is bad.

 

Is the screen appearing totally black or totally white by chance? There is a ribbon cable that goes from the circuit board to the monitor that MAY have come loose.

 

very true. If you are getting power to the system and the screen is illuminated and you are not getting an image, then chances are your ribbon is at fault. This happened to me and was easily fixed with a new ribbon. This is easier said than done considering I have a friend in the business who made the swap no problem. It might be a little harder for you. Good luck though!

 

yes the screen is backlit a white color so its not the power, but ill check the ribon then
