Question Need help with sub!

I have an alpine type r 15" powered by a Boston Acoustics m800. I want a box that is going to be able to provide me with the loudest bass, does anybody have any recommendations?

Thanks!!

Install WinISD pro, tune a box so it has some peak to it and target about 45 hz or so. That should get good and loud. Most likely it will be a ported, large box.

IMO, I would not care about loudest and go with a large, well supported, LOW tune box. It will still be loud but it will also sound great. That way when you get tired of being an annoying ass in the lane next to me, you can still enjoy your music.

Learn the basics of WinISD and you can go pretty far with box design. Also, you can use Google Sketchup (free) to design and model a box and play with port sizes and shapes.

If you give me a bit of time, I think I can do this for you this weekend. Donations to paypal with successful designs are appreciated. What is the specific sub model number of the one you have, and what is the total width, total height, and total depth to work with maximum for your box?

It's the SWR-1542D. Uhh the max would be 22"W*16"H*36"D. I'll give those 2 programs a try and respond to see if it's something I can do. Otherwise, I'd be happy to make a donation for a design. Cash is kinda tight but anything is appreiciated! Thanks

Alright, gave it a shot but no luck. If you wouldn't mind trying for a design I'd be happy to make a donation!

Ok, so you meant Boston Acoustics GTA-800M. That's a decent 800W @ 2ohms, which is good for the sub.

If you want to go sealed, a simple but extremely well built 2 cubic foot box will work great.

If you want to go ported, 4.5 cubes tuned to 25 hz would be a solid option. You can go with a smaller box and tune higher, but simply put the bigger lower tuned box will do more damage if you have the space. You can actually go 4 cubes and stuff the box with polyfil, and that'll save some space.

I'll work on box design later, but for now, here's my plots

And of course others are encouraged to check my work.

I lack the experience to tune a bandpass box, and to be fair unless you design it absolutely perfectly you can end up with a mess. There are some dudes that have proven success w/ the bandpass but the ported graphs are looking sweet.
