need help with steering wheel controls

hey guys, i have a 03 TL-S. The POS 6CD got jammed so im goin aftermarket. However, i dont want to loose the steering wheel controls. I have heard there is an aftermarket mod out there for it. Can someone tell me exactly what that mod is and is it an expensive one? TNX

depending on the aftermarket unit that you have their is a interface for the steering wheel controls to work it. I have the eclipse avn 5435 and i had to get the interface swi-ecl made by pac. Only downfall to hooking up the interfaces to aftermarket units is that sometimes their is a little delay between the button and the action of the button. Look on crutchfield or ebay for the interfaces.

I just installed this on my '03 TLS, found out that the instructions on the PAC website are wrong for the 03 (maybe they're correct for the 04+). There is no need to use a resistor and there is no wire in the #11 pin on the OEM plug.

i would try to stick with the wired adapter as it's easier to install and work more consistently. i think pac audio covers every major brand with a wired adapter.

That's the same one as mentioned above from Crutchfield. The PAC SWI series. The one you linked to is the one I used for my Alpine CDA-9851.
