jl 500/1, circa 250 to 300 watts per sub; all the filtering you'll ever need; remote bass control optional.

those subs are going to be way underpowered with any of those amps.. $600 is just not enough to get the most out of those subs....

you really should be putting like MINimum 500W to each sub.. MINIMUM.. 1000W is about right.. EACH.

i would say the 1000 JL is a good choice for 1 of them.. but if you really cant afford to power them the right way maybe put that 1000/1 JL to both for now until you can get another one.

You could get a DLS A4 and put it on them.. DLS is very underrated with their stuff and that should power them nicely..

Maybe a zapco refernce 1000 would work too.. All are CLOSE to the $600 limit you have ... you might have to spend a LITTLE more.. but well worth it to get the better amp... It will give you more power (usually as they are underrated) and it will be much cleaner power.. which means you can get more out of the amp.

Go with the Kicker amps - really the best bang for your buck out there with great sound quality and reliability. My dad still has his original 3 amps in his truck - they are 9 years old! and have never missed a beat, nor have any of the Kicker amps that I have had (I have gone through 6 with my different systems). You can get the KX 1200.1 on ebay for around $450. That will be all the power they would want. But you do realize your trunk is going to flop around like shit with that much bass right? much less you wont have any trunk space...but at least you will have some BOOOOM!
and Kicker amps are also under-rated. My amp is rated at 600 watts RMS into 2 ohms mono - but it was tested at 738 watts RMS.
here is a link - I have purchased a few things from this guy before - very good to deal with.

Are you choosing your woofs by their power rating?

Apparently, or the fact that he doesn't really know that kicker makes crap now. Well not crap.. but they are NOT like they used to be.

the 9 year old amps were VERY GOOD.. Even their stuff 5 years ago, but after that they started to go downhill.. and their subs nowadays are NOT the quality they used to be.

But to each his own. Like I said earlier.. IF you are going to NOT be putting enough power to them they will sound like crap. Better to overpower them with a CLEAN signal then underpower them.

For $600 you can probably get the 1000/1 from JL. Pretty close to the power rating of your subs. Just curious how much were the subs? Why i ask is that you might be able to get a better sub from some advice here that will match the amp better, then the other way around.

Better to get a better amp and have WAY TOO much power then a good sub and underpower it. Cause later you can upgrade the subs easier, but upgrading the amp will usually cost you more.. Plus the amp is the biggest factor IMO in an install. Get the BEST AMP you can afford.. and work around that

well i didnt get the subs yet.. my style of music is mostly rap and i like to have a decent amout SQ but SPL is a bigger factor for me.... my buddy has two 10 inch L7'S and its perfect for me... i usually make bad decisions when comming to my system, and always buy shit that ends up sounding horrible, so i figured this would be the way to go since ive actually heard it and like how it sounds... the thing is i already have a kicker box that i got from a friend of mine who sold the subs and amp and never got rid of the box so i took it off his hands.....thanks for the help
