depending on the type of disc you use it might be too thick for the cd player, i had this problem with some cd's that used a sticker for the label, but most of my cd's work as long as theyre in the default format and not mp3

My cd's are CD-R too, does it show one of the ERR messages when it spits the CD out? i had that problem once with a CD i think it says in the owners manual what each ERR-1 ERR-2 stands for, it might be the changer or the cd format i guess try a couple different ones and see if they all get spit out

99-01 TL CD player cannot read burned CDs. The 02-03 TL head units can read burned cds.

A simple experiment to try,
Use a different brand of CD-R. Different brands use different dyes for the recording process and the player may be able to read a different disc. Record at the slowest speed you can get with your CD-R recorder. Do not use CD-RW media - they cannot be successfully read by audio players - only CD data recorders can use them.
In the end, the other posters may be correct - the player may not be able to read CD-Rs.
