need help with audio
I just put in an aftermarket head unit on my 99 acural cl. The problem im having is that my speakers in the back are louder with more base than the ones in the front. Is there a preamp somewhere im not seeing? I also changed out all the factory speakers. Can anyone help??????????

thats because the 6x9 speakers are designed to put out more bass than the 6.5 in the front. Also (correct me if I am wrong, I'm still fairly new to the whole car audio thing) putting in a new deck will eliminate any sort of factory amp you have unless you get the special integration module or harness. and aftermarket decks put out more power than stock ones, about twice as much.

The 6x9's are designed for more bass, you could also try fading slightly to the front to try and balance things out. If you're powering everything off the head unit, you may consider switching to an amp which would distribute power more evenly

The majority of your bass is going to end up coming from the rear in the CL. You can seal up your front doors a little better but it's not huge in those. Best thing I found for that car before adding subs would be to add a 4-channel, upgrade the tweeters in the dash, put full range in the door, and of course have the 6x9 in the back. Amp them up and you'll be good.

There actually IS a piece of equipment inline, make sure that is disabled per the DIY instructions.
I run the factory front speakers as-is except for a front pair of tweeters installed in the A-pillar. Bass is lacking in the front because the doors are leaky and those Bose speakers are midrange not mid-bass drivers, so I crossed them at 80hz, steep crossover slope of 24dB/oct. Then the trunk sub setup takes over from there. If you tune right and fiddle with phase adjustments a little bit, you can get the sub to blend inconspicuously with the front end, so the bass still sounds dominant in the front of the car. Also it is a good idea to fade those rear speakers out a bit, otherwise the rear will dominate the front stage given their higher efficiency of the larger cones they have.
