NAV for non-nav TL ????
It sure is very possible to install an aftermarket Nav system in your TL.
Alpine makes aftermarket Nav Systems for cars just like they make the factory Nav Systems for our car. You can't get the built in screen like in the TL but you can get flip-out monitors. They have quite a few systems to select from. The cost is a little more than the Factory system but some do more DVD movie audio system Nav system. I think the draw back is & I am not sure is you have to give up factory audio system with most of them.
The price is quite high more than factory system & you would like to go to a High-End Audio Shop for install & selection. Try this site www.alpine1.com (go to products & Navigtion System & Monitors)

yup, it is pretty simple. all you need is a screen/monitor and the navi unit, and figuring out where to mount the monitor.
my buddy has done a couple of lexus sc coupes this way...
-tme-m006sa monitor
- newest navi unit nve-n852a (he used the 1st gens at that time)
you can go one step better on the monitor and get the tme-m750a in case you wanna add video sources (vcr, dvd, game console, etc) later down the line

i am pretty sure this is how it works with other brands.
here are pix of an e class install...
