My Email to Denison...

Here is what I asked them (regarding Icelink Plus):

>I would love to be able to use your product, but I didn't see my car in
>> your OEM list. I have a 2005 Acura TSX with Navigation. Do you have a
>> product now (or soon) that will allow me to use my IPOD and the steering
>> wheel controls? Will I need any other equipment? Thanks.

Here is the response:

Hi

We suppose to have a kit for you in a few weeks.
Can you please check back in a couple of weeks?
Best Regards,

Will this madness ever end?? I am no electrical engineer, but how hard can this be???? Why doesn't Acura make their own interface and CASH IN on sales of it??

OK, I am done venting.

It's not that hard. It's a question of limited resources, that's all.

If the president drove an Acura, it would be done. He probably has a Lexus.

I am now an Icelink dealer so I will keep in touch with them behind the scenes and see what comes up.

You-Da-Man.....

Am I correct in assuming that there are NO solutions for getting track/folder info from the Ipod on the Nav screen?

ahh Zolton .. i've talked to him on the phone before ... broken english if i've ever heard it. He's the same guy that told me no cables has to be removed, tapped, replaced, spliced into, for a TSX with navigation, and that the new super cool ice link with 4 aux inputs would be under $100 ... right..

either way, they're supposed to have some ice link that lets you plug in 3 extra devices besides the ice link ... i'm waiting for this so that i keep my added on Sirius.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is so special about the Icelink?

Dark,

Nothing in particular, just that they were *supposed* to have one of those "ultimate" solutions that would give you IPod display on the Nav screen and steering wheel control.

Apparently, the device also came with a free round trip visit to the moon, which is probably the sticking point in the release of the device. You know, lawyers and such...

Any updated news on this? I spoke to someone about installing an icelink plus in my new 05 TSX with Navi and I was told I should wait about a month because Dension was coming out with something new for a TSX. I can't get in touch with anyone at Dension but it sounds like they make empty promises. Has anyone heard anything about this recently? Should I hold out for a month or go forward with the icelink plus? I really want my ipod running in my car!

Dension seems to be a small company with European manufacturing and not much experience with development schedules.

I have no idea when that will come out either, unfortunately - nor the Blitzsafe pice either.

We're now doing the Icelink AUX (charging and line out ONLY) with an AUX3 switcher in line on the XM for 2005 TL and TSX.

Dension

Is this company in business to sell the icelink? It's impossible to get a response from them. I have a 2003 CL and I see the HONDA_R2 will work in my car, but it is backordered. Can anyone provide any insight? Anyone have one for sale?

If you get a Video-Nav converter and alpine's new vehicle hub with an Ipod and Sirius adapters you can have on screen track and folder listings. I've discussed this with my installer , so it is possible although not much has been done with the vehiclehub as of yet.

there's been some discussion on how much works needs to be done to get the vhub to work. you'll need to get a video-nav converter ($180-$400), the VHub ($300), iPod adapter ($100) .. and with all that cost and installation hassle, you can only control it using a wireless remote. No steering wheel controls, no radio button or touch screen controls either.

OK, we'll see how much longer I remain a Dension dealer.

Yesterday I called and ordered the part "for a 2005 X5 with nav, changer, and factory Sirius".

I called today for tech support since the instructions were VERY unclear. I got put on eternal hold, then called back and got on very long hold, then got to talk to Zoltan- who behaved like a rude-ass mofo - and then HE transferred me to Tom after admitting that he had no idea how it was supposed to connect to the car! He was rude AND incompetent.

Then Tom explained that this is for cars with no changer, or if you are unplugging the changer - it does not work with the changer present! After I specifically ordered it that way!

So I told him that I was tired of ZOltan, that if it were up to me I'd fire him, and that I was saying that as the former manager for 4 years of the largest tech support department in the 12V industry.

Probably didn't matter. I get the feeling that Zoltan is somebody's cousin or son or something.

I finally gave up after the fourth one didn't work. In the past, people have gotten V1.1 working; I'm not sure anyone has installed the Icelink Plus in a CL with any success - or maybe I'm just unlucky. I finally decided to go with the Neo Ion - just finished installing it tonight - worked first try. That would be my recommendation.
