I have a feeling hip-hop will dominate based on that was the common answer in the TSX A/V forum before the "join"...
I do believe this, the better your audio system is the higher appreciation you will have for various genres of music...

agreed...the better quality of your audio system may link to an owner with a wider range of interests. the third gen TL is the first car ever to have true surround system, and a subwoofer built in.

I suspect the TL/RL owners will have a wider range of taste. we did this same survey for the TL folks, view results here
WHAT XM CHANNELS DO YOU LISTEN TO (A Poll for 3rd Gen TL owners ) Nov 25, 2004
A total of 49 respondents answered:
SUMMARY OF RESULTS
20 Pops and Hits
17 Rock
16 Decades
13 Jazz and Blues
11 Hip Hop and Urban
10 Comedy
This was multiple answer possible (checkboxes)20 Pops and Hits
17 Rock
16 Decades
13 Jazz and Blues
11 Hip Hop and Urban
10 Comedy
The answers were based off genre's available on Xm radio categories
This is interesting, as from our other demographic research the TL owners are a little bit older, nearly all have college degree.
Hip hop and Urban were 5th place on the scale.

Hey, Jerky, I'm not really attached to what the TL buyers as a class said, and your observations about TL buyers compared to TSX buyers smack of elitism, FYI. We know that annual income trends up with a car's price tag, and we know that the percentage of college degrees trends up with annual income, so I don't see any magic in saying that TL buyers tend to be older and have more college degrees per capita than TSX buyers... now if they were the SAME price and the same demographic differences existed, then we could draw conclusions - like maybe the TL is an old man's car but as it is we can draw the same boring conclusions about any two cars from the same manufacturer that vary in price.
I just want to know what kind of music the people who frequent the A/V forum are listening to... helps in making recommendations for audio systems.

As opposed to what? Rennaisance Christian Music? Gregorian chants?
I considered including it until I decided that it is no different from "worldy" music in form and intrumental content - rock, country, etc.
And of course I am a godless atheist... forgot that part...

it's not elitism, the TL is only a mid range car in my opinion, you could make the same reference to compare TL to RL owners, and see an even larger demographic shift towards higher income and education.
that point was not made to 'snub anyone' but it was to offer some related and relative findings from a similar poll.
Lastly, I defend my post as it was a response to a previous response that Musicbox made:
"I have a feeling hip-hop will dominate based on that was the common answer in the TSX A/V forum before the "join"...
I do believe this, the better your audio system is the higher appreciation you will have for various genres of music..."
Musicbox states that he suspects that TSX owners would have chosen "hiphop" and the better audio system you have, the greater range of appreciation for music one would have.
I simply offered some relative quantitative findings that could offer him some information related to his claim.
does this explain the reason for my post better?

Also, you could assume that a TSX A/V forum would have more users then a TL or RL A/V forum, based on the assumption that younger people freq a internet car forum more then older people...

I used to be more or less just a fan of rap and hip-hop, but I've actually broadened my musical tastes.
Now it's:
-Rap & hip-hop (all types)
-Soul and R&B (Otis Redding, Al Green, Barry White, Bob Marley, etc)
-Classic rock (Beatles, Doors, Billy Joel, Elton John, Stones, all that good stuff)
-Alternative (current and 1990's)
