multi-channel amp????
i have a question. I am gonna replace my factory speakers for my 1996 Acura 2.5 TL. I am also gonna buy a cd reciever, most likely 45-50 watts x4. also gonna buy a RF He2 sub. Not i need an amp. I want to have a multi-channel amp. Can I bridge the amp so that it can power just my rear speakers and the sub (3 things) ? something like: power the two rear speakers with 45 watts each and the sub with 150-200 watts? is this possible? I will power the front speakers with the reciever. What amp is good for this?

well, you want to use the external amp the power the FRONT, not the rears. have your new deck power the rears
you can either get a 3 channel amp, have 2 channels run the front speakers, and 1 channel running the sub
or a 5 channel amp, 4 channels running all 4 door speakers, and 1 running the sub
....or you can use the 5 channel amp and bridge it so you get more power going to your fronts
if you have the money get a 5 channel amp. id get the 3 channel

Xtant makes a sweet 3 channel 3300x or 603x. You can hook up your front two channels to your fronts...there is also a phatom set of channels that runs off of the front's power so you can run your rears. and there is a mono channel to run your subs.

Why not just get a four channel amp? You can run channels 1+2 to your front speakers, and bridge channels 3+4 to the sub. Going with a 4 channel amp will provide you with a lot more choices than a 3 channel amp, and cost a little less than a 5 channel amp. Just my opinion though...

thanks. what about getting a 2 channel amp to power all 4 (2 pair) speakers in the car? and not buy a sub. would that sound good? better than all the confusing wiring with 4-5 channels and a sub? think im gonna do that.
just wondering, 1 channel from the amp can power 1 pair of speakers right?

Sure...replace all your mids and highs, drop a two or four channel amp in and see how you like it. If you still want more low end you can always go from there. I have Boston Pro 6.4's in front and 6.4lf's in the back. Right now its running off the deck power and sounds pretty good. Gonna push them with a rockford soon. well as soon as I get off my butt and install it.

yeah, you can always do what wampum said. try without a sub and see how you like it
i dont think youll like it all at. i hate it when i have to take my sub out
i still think the smatest and most cost effective method is to get a 3 channel. you can have the 2 channels running ALL your door speakers, though youll have to give up the fade feature on your deck
i have the same setup, only with 2 amps. one 2 channel amp is powering my fronts
my deck is powering my rears
a 1 channel amp is powering my sub
only amp your rears if you regularely have people in the back (and you care about them). if you dont have ppl in the back, your wasting your time touching the rear speakers. my rears are stock
im satisfied with alpine V12 amps. they are used in competition systems, i figured those guys know what theyre doing. but there are definately higher end names out there
my amps where $200 (USD) a piece

jz983- the boston's are Boston Acoustic. Boston Acoustic Pro 6.4 set is the last years model...or last generation. The new ones are 6.5's, older ones are 6.0. Drop me a line if you have any other questions.
