MP3 (I know its not the right section but help!)

Hi all (and mods), I know this is supposed to go in the video and audio section but i need help asap and people typically come here first and most often, so maybe you can leave it in this section for the day?

Im buying an mp3 player today; either a 20 gig ipod or dell juxebox. I want to use one of the wires everyone talks about to connect it to the aux input of my car so i can use the steering wheel controls.

YES i have searched everything and read every post but anyone will tell you its impossible to understand some of it because sometimes people answer unrelated questions and youd ont get anythign difinitive.

Can someone/anyone let me know which wire I need to get to hook up my mp3 player to the aux on my navi tsx so i can use the steering wheel controls? Do i need this snood thing or does the icelink replace the need for that? also im reading about this other (newer?) wire that you dont need to get a accord wireing harness. i absolutley do not want to splice any wires, so if that helps id appreciate any input.

Also sorry... are these wires compatiable with both apple and dell mp3 players? thats prob the biggest question bc ill get a dell player but if these wires only work with ipods ill just get an ipod.

sorry for the long post and let me jsut say again i have searched and read everything ahead of time

thanks again forum folks

mrcenzo, I'm going to move this to A&V but I'll leave a redirect in this forum to direct people to your message. Best of both worlds.

You know, Dan, is there a way to have the SHOND FAQ in both FAQ and in AV?

I'd like to keep all the FAQ topics in the FAQ section just to keep things tidy. Is this the FAQ you were thinking of? https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3148

i went to that site and just got off the phone with the icelink people. i talked with a tech guy who said the tsx isnt really even supported although its listed there. thought that was kinda odd to hear... anyway, my big question to him was whether or not anything had to be spliced and he said yes. i then asked about all this talk im hearing over an accord wire being used to omit the splicing process. is that how this works? btw he also said the voice commands work for the mp3 player even though other have said it shouldnt work.

lets say i went via a dell juxebox. is there a cable anyone knows of that def works with this and delivers good controls?

i really want an ipod but my main selling point is car compatiability and however awesome results people are having with ipod installs, it just seems to complicated and intricate. Im just looking for something i can plug the mp3 player into and listen to and still use steering wheel buttons?

Good. Fast. Cheap. Pick any two.

You are looking at using aftermarket equipment to fool a car into doing something the engineers didn't intend it to do... and you want it simple? : )

The ONLY way I know to use the steering wheel buttons to control any MP3 player is to use the icelink to control an iPod, as far as I know.

You should have told him it was an Accord. All the interfaces you've read about here are Accord interfaces. No one makes TSX-specific stuff, too little volume. So far, same for non-iPod MP3 players.

So what's complicated? You want it turnkey, take this link to a local car stereo installer, and they will isolate you from the complication.

Honestly, this is pretty simple as car mods go... I think your expectations of what's available may need to be adjusted somewhat.

Car Owner: Are you going to have to cut metal to put those speakers in?

Installer: It's only metal...they make cars out of it every day.

ok forget it... i just found an entire thread on the forum about splicing involved for the snhod3. Anyone think theyll release an easy plug-n-play method sometime soon?

its too bad the car has all these features and cant even have a simple straight forward install of an mp3 player...

Now it's the car's fault? The nicer the car, the more complex the work! Those carmakers wanna mess with us, man!

The Blitzsafe adapter mentioned in this section has no splicing - harness included. No controls, audio input only. Screen looks like there's a 10-disc conencted, but no.

I think the splicing is already done for you with this product:

How is that any different than the SNHOND3?

I don't even think that will work on the TSX.

Actually, it IS the SHOND with a better harness, I hear. Blitzsafe calims to have bought the OE supplier to Soundgate for the SHOND.
