Does anyone if it is possible to install a MP3/CD player in place of the tray slot on the 3.2 CLs while keeping the factory system in?

You can add an Alpine changer with mp3 to the stock HU. All you need is an adapter. I dont know the exact model off hand so do a search.

I've been searching for an adapter for the past few days. Do you know what exactly the adapter does and where I could possibly find it?

The adapter is the interface between a specific Alpine CD changer and the OEM head unit. Check www.autotoys.comand

You need the Honda to Alpine adapter, we call it an Acualp, but it shouldn't cost you more than $40 bucks. The problem with it is that it is designed for an M-Bus Alpine Changer, not the Ai-net (which is the better changer, and MP3 changer), so you have to get another adapter to go from M-Bus to Ai-net. It's an Alpine adapter, and off the top of my head it should be the KCE130b, and sell for $15... When you do this, there is a little switch inside the changer that will most likely need to be flipped in order to make it work.... Good luck!
